what version of realtemp do you have?, make sure the TJ max is set to 100 celcius, the creator of it told me that's what he believes it should be at and this guy knows his stuff from experience and testing. Also, the q6600 is only rated by intel to a max of 71 celcius, if once you've made sure the TJ max in realtemp is set to 100 your over that i wouldn't push it any farther, if anything i'd throttle it back to 3ghz with a lower voltage to help longetivety of the chip. As for those programs that your unsure of, do you have a better way of telling the temperature of your cpu while in windows? no, so the logical thing to do is go off the best source available to you and that's realtemp.

CPU Hardware Monitor ive found it is very accurate, and it gives you a list of all the voltages and temps for a range of things as well.

Coretemp works also, Ive double checked CPU hardware monitor against other testing bases and ive found its quite close.

Unlapped cooled with a Thermalright Ultima 90i with dual 120mm 75CFM fans in push/pull setup, it reaches as high as 85C~ when running the Intel Burn Test.

To hot, i would recommed either get a better cooler, or drop your clocks, or see if you can drop voltages, 85 is just way to hot and will kill your chip. Are you a b3 or G0? and hopw old is your chip?

Well I ran Real Temp prog vs Core temp and I see a big diff on my DFI P35 T2RS, all of a sudden after 6 hrs Orthos/prime 25.7 I am seeing max load temps rangin from 58-67 dependent on the core

I plan to run a new bios shortly as I am on 0818 and then see what happens when I push for 3.4-3.5 over the 3.2 I am also sure I can drp vcore to 1.27 over the 1.29 I am running current

those temps are ok, but quite high for 3.2GHz, if you want to stay around 3.4-3.6 i would say water, unless your using the stock cooler, then i would say aftermarket cooler asap if that is the temps your running.

Its a G0 chip, going from a Ultima 90i to a TRUE black isn't going to improve the temps that much (maybe 5C~ at best) I could use dual 120mm >100CFM fans that would probably cancel that that gap, water isn't an option either for the time being until I buy a larger case, the chip is 3 months old.

3.2GHz with vcore @1.3v it tops out at 61C with Intel Burn Test, 48C full load with PRIME95.

3.4GHz with vcore @1.4v it tops out at around 85C~ running Intel Burn Test, again prime95 is around -10C~ lower at 72C~.

I guess I've almost hit the limit with air cooling on this chip.

Edit: Those temps I've written down @3.4GHz doesn't seem right, might have been 3.6GHz instead with 1.49v

I am using Scythe Ninja 2 CPU Cooler it somes in 2nd to the Thermalright 120 not gonna find much better to make a big enough difference. REal Temp I am using is latest version from the link you threw up. Chip is a B3

TJ Max is set to 100, I am not really worried about longevity of the chip as I doubt I will own it more than another 6mths before I try out some newer stuff. I ran a x3210 GO for almost a year with similar temps but at a higher clock of 3.5 and it never had any issue or acted quirky or faulty running 1.3 for that period. I agree increased volts and heat may shorten a chips life but I am not too worried about it

My Xigmatek S1284 and the back brace, i lapped both my S1284 and my CPu chip, and i was running about 1.45v at 3.6GHz, and i was about 55-65c. My suggestion would be to either down clock, or hold out for watercooling. Im not sure if a S1284 or any air cooler would help you, maybe you need to think out of the box, and go for better case cooling. My CM690 case has more fans cycling air then Godzilla breaths fire. But everything is channeled, and one the air is used its ducted out of the case to prevent from corrupting other areas of the computer. I would say think about air ducting or something to help channel air through your cooler as a last ditch effort. My temps drop 2-3c after ducting athough i have no real proof that it works, except that my room is warmer now then it was before i did it. My GFX card benefited from ducting a lot better then the CPU did IMO.

haha 6months is actually a good amount of time, i thk your safe where you at. And the x3210 are the same as the intel c2q, but they're better binned chips, they come from the center of the wafer where the least flaws are.
