Well I bought a GTX 295 used on fleabay as parts only. The card posts and works off of the HDMI port for video but doesn't recognize the second GPU at all and it will not SLi with my other GTX 295.

Anyone have any ideas on making it work again? I am pulling it apart right now trying to see if some new paste and baking will fix it.

is it the dual PCB model? Those had an issue with one dieing but the other remained operational but really crippled the card. As you mentioned you could try baking.

yup dual PCB version...How will the SLi bridge respond to baking?

Well after cleaning 10lbs of fucking thermal paste off its in the oven...

Good luck man, hope that fixes it.

Any suggestions?

Sorry but does the CH III even support SLI?

Maybe....

I wonder if I disco the internal SLi bridges on the upper PCB (the dead one) if I can remove the extra power connector and flash it to a GTX285 for SLi. I have already tried the different card SLi drivers...

It's a shame the baking trick didn't work this time man, I haven't had much luck with that recently either

common problem with those cards. My buddy had Sli'd gtx295s and in the end he had 1 core on each card working. Still managed to sli them for basically 1 gtx295 but what a waste. Heat was the killer.

Maybe....

specs at ASUS show only Crossfire....maybe you should look at the SLI hack here and see if the second card can at least tri-SLI!?!?

Hold on

For one second

That's what I posted in the pic.

Really odd now to see if I can get the other card with three outputs to run as the main and use all the monitors with sli working.

nice post some benchmarks :D

i would have to think DD

No idea whats good in that one. No screen tearing which I am pretty excited about...Seems a little low but I had the second monitor running the entire time with temps up and the CPU isn't cranked up...

No vantage or any 3dmark benches ?

I haven't ran that bench in forever and plus I don't own any of those crysis games XD

Working on it had that one easily available. Had to download new copies of all the 3dmarks.

So I keep failing the HDR/SM3.0 testing in 3dmark06...Temps are fine maybe I can try bumping the voltage up on that card since it's the old dual PCB with volt controls.

Odd the baked card passed at stock no glitches will try the other one now...

hmmm turns out the single PCB GTX 295 is the one failing...will have to pull it apart and see the issue.
