After spotting the GTX 650 Ti and 750 Ti, but being unable to find any in Ireland or the UK, I'm hoping a splendid TPU regular might have something for me so I can play Mad Max from my sofa with some better graphics!

Thanks for looking but it MUST be a single slot card as the PCI-E slot is directly beside the case side. A dual slot low TDP card would be fine so long as I can source a single slot cooling solution!

Maybe a GT630 4GB could fit in there since it is a preety small card.

There are no thermal issues in a SN78SH7 with a mere 95W CPU and said graphics card. Now, back to the actual topic at hand, who has an upgrade for me?

Have you considered the R7 360? You may have a greater choice of single slot/small form factor cards going down that route with similar kind of performance to the 750Ti, for example (just one I pulled off google)........

http://www.ebuyer.com/714687-gigabyte-r7-360-oc-2gb-gddr5-dual-link-dvi-i-dvi-d-hdmi-displayport-pci-e-gv-r736oc-2gd?mkwid=sqgbTrC6h_dc&pcrid=83249206619&pkw=_intitle:graphics card&pmt=b&gclid=CI7s2uv1q8oCFWax2wodlccIdA

This will give you a closer look at the cooler......

https://smallformfactor.net/reviews/gigabyte-r7-360-mid-range-miniature
I appreciate the effort, but once again it's incompatible due to the dual slot cooler

It's not dual slot, in the 2 reviews I read it was actually referred to as a 1.5! hence my question earlier about actual physical space you have, my point being you may be able to find an alternative with similar performance but I will leave it at that.

I'll take the side off the wee Shittle later and have a duke but fear the heatsink would be WAY too big to fit in there and I'm not keen on boring a hole in the side of the case!

Most cards will be I think. That single slot thing is really holding you back.
The GTX 650 Ti and 750 Ti are both upgrades and are both available single slot form in which is why I specifically mentioned them and my desire for one is reflected in this thread! It was stupid of Shuttle to place the PCI slot to the inside of the PCI-E slot indeed :shadedshu:

That's AM2/AM2+. I doubt that you will realize much of a performance boost by upgrading the GPU.
I'm willing to gamble on the GPU slowing me down a little; a 125W Phenom II X4 is an affordable CPU bottleneck reducer which can be obtained easily nowadays as a potential upgrade from the X3 720 at 3.4GHz. Now, does anybody out there have a more powerful single slot card than a HD 7750?

Just to put this out there and I know it's slightly OT, but I paired high end cards to a 940BE and it games rather decently. Until he starts getting into higher end cards I don't think CPU will be that much of a problem.

Edit:

Is your model the one with the PCI slot above the PCI-E slot?

I've been looking at changing to a faster CPU but I don't think Mad Max and BF3 will perform much better with an extra core at about the same speed as the 3 I already have! The motherboard in this SFF PC lies horizontally and what is traditionally the bottom of the motherboard corresponds to the LHS of this case, looking at it front on, and the outermost slot is the PCI-E slot one.

That's a nforce chipset motherboard.

If you have a retailer to work with, I'd try the MSI GeForce GTX 750 Ti N750ti-2GD5TLP . From the rear view of the case, it appears that there is some space to the side of the PCI-e slot, but that's my opinion based off of a picture.:p

When i wanted to fit an overlarge card in my Shuttle i used my 4 " metal grinder on the case.

Getting power from the PSU was my biggest issue, no spare rails to use or adapt and with a 300w PSU options are limited especially if you are o/c ing the CPU.

Yea BF4, GTA V, The Witcher 3, DAI, and a few others all ran relatively fine on the 940BE even though it was at 100%.

If this was me and like you didn't want to modify the enclosure itself I'd look into the MSI 750ti mentioned above and try to modify a single slot heatsink onto it then put a fan or two fans on the side of the card (edge facing top of case) to keep it cool. 750ti uses little power and has a low TDP so it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

I was even wondering about having someone, who works with sheet metal, give the case a "power bulge".

I had a look at that MSI card and it's gonna be too chunky :banghead: WHY did AMD have to remove the CPU overdrive feature from Crimson, the idiots? I can't adjust CPU multiplier from BIOS and NTune won't do it  So, what WILL let me overclock the CPU besides CCC?!

It's as tight as a gnat's chuff in there so it'll be a squeeze, but I'm willing to try it for some more oomph and to extend the life of this old Shittle!
So who can tell me the mounting hole distances on the GTX 750 Ti? o_O
