Lately me and some friends been tryong to play Age of Empires 2, Microsofts hosting for this has gone down, there are a few other ways people are finding matches, I was to use Hamachi, especially since I have no clue how to use it and I hear a lot of talk about it. Me and my friend setup a network and are both joined to it, but hosting a LAN game doesn't show up, so any tips would be great.

you need to make sure its portforwarded , 12975 i think, also

in network and shareing center, click the left tab that says change adaptor settings.

then press alt and click advanced , advanced settings, and move hamachie to the top of that list.

Already moved our hamachis to the top for when we are gaming, I'll give the port forwarding a try. I have done a bit of searching on google and was shocked, there really doesnt seem to be a ton of info out there, yet I always heard about people using it to game.

yeah i only just got hamachi working for warcraft 3 yesterday...

portforwarding 12975 and 6112 (default warcraft port) but the clients still need to use a lan emulator to connect. im always host.

Does every game need a LAN emulator, or just Warcraft?

i cant answer that question, i dont know :*( the only game iv ever used it for is warcraft 3.

i dont think they do, im also willing to bet i dont even need to use hamachie to make the lan emulator work. but its working now so im not going to change anything.

I don't use a LAN emulator for WC3...

And for Apprentice too.

I've used it to play Rainbow Six Vegas 2 co-op a few times and some Battlefield with my friends on a local game. I really like the program -just wish more of my friends were on it.

I would use http://www.tunngle.net/en/

It's better than Hamachi..and it work's without any forwarding that I have seen so far. There's also pre-setup rooms for the games already. Just launch it before you play and then hop in a LAN game.
