is there any way of getting something to fit onto or inside my case so that when my hd is working it lights up you know he sort of thing i mean dont you?

on a completely different thing i just done a anti-virus scan useing avg free and it took me 1hr and 15mins to complete! lol

that's normal for a 160gb hdd
don't know about the lights

Well if your motherboard has a connector for a HDD indicator light (which most should) all you need is an LED with the right shape connection which I doubt would be hard to find. After that it's up to you how to fit it onto the case.

It exists a solution where you can use one of your keyboard leds as hdd-led. For example the SCROLL ("Rollen" in German) which is really useful for nothing in windows/linux.
Dont know the exact link but I know that it works because I've experimented with it some time ago. It is a little process which uses very little RAM+CPU.

Is your casing dated back to 1990's? Lol just wondering. Most modern casing nowadays have HDD Led to connect to your motherboard. Or is it the opposite? 1990 MOBO?

Sav m8 r u sure u havent overlooked the wire in your case that connects to the 'IDE LED' pin on ur mobo coz it is VERY rare that a case doesnt have a HDD activity LED :confused:

My folks' packard bell from 1997 used to have a HDD light, so they've been around for at least 10 years - much longer I suspect!

Actually HDD activity LEDs have been around since MFM disks. Floppy drives had them too, I think all storage media have had activity LEDs

Controller/HD have the connector, simply connect a LED to the connector and you have one. It's quite simple

i dont have the led connector any more it was in my old case which i dont have any more

The connector is on your mobo/HD. Just connect a LED to the 2 pins and it'll work.

You can get a LED from anywhere, they don't cost a thing if you insist on buying one. Cable isn't a problem either, get the 2 pin connector from old hardware or make your own from a jumper.
You could even directly solder it to the pins, then again I wouldn't do that.
