Have been having errors with PC for last 6 - 10 Months

Hello,

I have seen a post regarding this but ended up being a different solution. My PC has an issue where it crashes while playing games and even sitting idle at times. It is a very inconsistent crash, so I am unable to do the "same thing", and it crash again. My issue is that when the computer crashes my screen goes black and it seems my fans speed increases to its max RPM. I have looked at my event viewer and did not see anything regarding the graphics card having any issues. Edit: Forgot to mention BIOS and all other drivers are upgraded to the latest version possible.

Here is my build:

Motherboard:
MSI Mag x670E WIFI

CPU:
AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

CPU Cooler:
NZXT Kraken 240mm All in One

RAM:
Corsair VENGEANCE RGB 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5-6000

SSD:
WD_SN770 2 TB

GPU:
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080

PSU:
Be Quiet 1200 Watts Platinum ?? forgot the grade.

Here is my screenshot of the event viewer. Could this be a PSU issue? My PSU is from 2021 or 2022.

Do all fans go 100% or just the gpu fans?

Does the event viewer have more details if you check the sub category "system" ?

edit: it would be helpful to know which settings you´ve manually set in bios.

instability, I would guess.

what parts you had before this?
the 9800x3d is the newest part from my knowledge, did you update the bios and put it in? Did you reinstall windows?

Could you please click on the error so we can see the details?

Default bios, Chkdsk, DISM, and SFC are a good place to start.

My guess is going to be drivers, jank software, or you OC isn't stable, but have basically no info at this point.

Historically.

Corsair ram hasn't played well with AMD setups for many people. Some have had some good luck with them but those are few and far between.... If you have some budget for some G.Skill RAM those seem to have the best compatibility with AMD setups.

@Jacob167
what settings for ram/IF ? stock or tuned?
reset to stock and see if it makes a difference.

i say try another psu just for giggles,reduces time to find cause/narrow it down.

@unwind-protect
unless you know this happens on stock settings, as any memtest with any added numbers (86/86+) is to find DEFECTIVE ram and virtually useless for stability test.
why not recommend something that actually picks up both, like TM5 or HCI?
at least i dont see a reason why recommend memtest instead of others?

@FreedomEclipse
cant tall about am5, but anything prior i build, any gskill i used (non z) never worked past jedec with gskill, while any corsair kit (veng/lpx/rgb) ran as specced, most even with lower timings.

unless the brand also makes the dies, recommending one over another makes no real difference, as they all can switch chips without notice.

For all we know the OP does have defective RAM chips. That's why I recommended memtest86+ first. I would have suggested more tests if memtest is fine,

I didn't see confirmation that the OP overclocks anything.

Run Windows Memory Diagnostic

All BIOS settings are default. Only thing I did with the BIOS was update it to its newest version recently.

RAM is running stock settings. Did not Tune. They are fairly new. Actually, thought The RAM may have been the issue, but it seems that is not the case as I replaced the old RAM and the issue still occurs.

Yeah, I should have mentioned that I updated the system thinking it may have been an issue with the CPU or RAM. Plus, I wanted to go from DDR4 to DDR5 so I upgraded my system in hope it would fix the issue as well, but it did not. I changed my motherboard, RAM, CPU, and CPU Cooler. I can go into specifics but I do not remember 100% what they were. The only thing that I have not changed is the PSU and GPU.

I tried scanning the file systems and attempted to repair them before posting on this thread and still no luck. I just tried again to verify but it claims no files are corrupted. Also, I do not OC my hardware as I do not feel comfortable messing with those settings. I also recently upgraded my drivers to the newest available. Chipset, BIOS, SSD, LAN, Bluetooth, ETC.

Well you didn't tell us any of that.

What all do you have installed? My gut still says software.

Let's have a look at what the error says please.

Test memory, temps, and power.

I know, I didn't think about any of that at first. Will definitely check those things you mentioned. I do know the CPU averages around 50 Celsius and GPU is about the same currently sitting at 50 Celsius with Fortnite opened after a couple games. I repasted the GPU about 2 months ago (after the issue began) thinking that may be the issue. What error specifically would you like to look at ? Session "dc3a3596-71e1-45a3-b2ea-39ad5322fe51" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000022 is one of the main errors occurring frequently and then I also have this error: Error setting traits on Provider {8444a4fb-d8d3-4f38-84f8-89960a1ef12f}. Error: 0xC0000001. These are the only two errors incrementing at this time. For software I have only downloaded Epic Games, Steam, Windows 11, Spotify from the Microsoft store, Nvidia GeForce App, NZXT CAM (for temp monitoring and RGB control), and driver files. Other than this I have no other software installed. Will test memory soon and post results. thanks for the reply.

Double click the error right there in the event log summary. General and details tab please.

Hello, I did the memory test as asked and it came back as no issues detected. I also took screenshots of the general and detail tabs for both common errors that are occurring. Hopefully all these screenshots are not too overwhelming. I do really appreciate the help.

@unwind-protect
should have asked, why not recommend/use the others, as those would find errors either way, no matter whats causing it, unlike memtest.

@Jacob167
maybe its one of those with issues, did you have same problem with previous bios?

As I understand it
  • Windows Memory Diagnostic
does not run with Windows up.

Then it's probably not the RAM

Are there reviews out there that compare it with memtest86 versions?

A most excellent question.

In my opinion a really good tester is able to move itself in RAM, so all the RAM is tested. I have no idea if either of these perform this trick.

@unwind-protect
HCI/TM5 will eventually test all ram, just a matter of time, which isnt an issue when stability testing (tweaks).
but yeah, forgot HCI can only boot from cd/usb if you get the (not free, but cheap) deluxe version.
