HD 3850 AGP Code 43 Error on Windows 10 Anniversary Headache!!!

Man Alive! Just when yer think it's safe to go an brew up! (or in my case, get back home after bein away, unpack, brew up, etc) I discover a problem!
I can't rollback, in place upgrade or install Windows 10 Ver1511 without loosing my files and settings! The only way it'll let be do it, is if I do a clean install!? :shadedshu::wtf::twitch::cry::banghead: help...:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

how many gig of files ?

Backup the files and make that install. ;)

image the whole OS drive. just to be sure you can go back to the starting point. macrium free edition also allows you to mount, browse and copy files from the image.

saved me many times.

Hmm, not sure how to tackle this. Just over 300Gb data, just over 60Gb free...

No Spare Drive / Back up Drive / Cloud storage ? phone a "Friend and Beg"

You might find a inexpensive Drive locally on Gumtree ????

windows backup creates VXDs if you choose a system image, which are mountable in the disk managment snapin.

No additional software required.

You have'nt read the Thread properly
The Mac and others
latest Win 10 Borks the OS as its an "NOW UNSUPPORTED AGP SYSTEM"

The OP does not need to

He is/NEEDS TO REVERT TO AN EARLIER BUILD THAT DOES SUPPORT AGP ( AND HE IS WHEN HE CAN BACK UP HIS FILES )
Imagaing his current updated System is a WASTE OF TIME as your suggestion is also

What is the point in Imaging a system that fails ???????????????? huh

PLEASE IF YOUR GOING TO COMMENT READ THE THREAD and the conclusions as noted

ive read the thread just fine.

the OP doesnt want to lose his data when he installs a prior version/OS.

My suggestion is an easy way backup his current data and create a mountable image to fish out his data without 3rd party software.

VXDs can be mounted in the mmc disk snap-in with ANY os Vista or later

Man Alive!:(:eek::twitch: Now I'm snookered... :fear:

Allo all, sorry for the late reply. I've been real busy - I'm NHS staff y'see so with all the weather driving people balmy... well you can imagine! ;):laugh:
So anyway, I decided that I'm not giving up without a fight! This damn thing is not gonna beat me!!! Occam's razor kicked in!!! :peace:
Which basically says "All things being equal - the most easiest and likeliest explanation is the right one!" The AGP TO PCI BRIDGE is out, so put it back in!
I downloaded Intel's Driver Pack for all S775 Agp Boards (mine is a ASRock 865pe) https://downloadcenter.intel.com/do...10-915-925-Chipset-Based-Intel-Desktop-Boards, installed on the offending system without a hickup. Then tried to install the drivers for my HD3850 again... still nowhere but I ain't done yet! How is this warping? I've put back in the AGP-PCI BRIDGE driver yet still the same problem... I'm missing something...

Warping - An old tech term for 40+ yr old techs that refuse to use every vulgar word known to humankind to describe a problem that winds them up!
:D:p:laugh::roll:

Yep, Occam's Razer, tells me W10 and an 865PE chipset wont work.
But knock yourself out trying.

Removed the unnecessary comments!
It seems you only think it ran flawlessly under W10. The issue is not people not reading your posts, but your unwillingness to listen.
Unsubbed. I can't deal with idiots.

@dorsetknob There's got to be a way of getting these drivers to talk to each other surely? I mean I've successfully reinstalled the AGP drivers,
checkout the screen shot!

@eidairaman1 Yep that's the plan!

@Caring1 Whatever, but just to make a point - you are wrong. 865pe and Windows 10 Version 1511 Build 10.0.10586 was working perfectly,
including Catalyst Control Centre and everything else... deal with it!

If the Version your using is still later than ver 1511 its designed not to work with AGP ( any AGP Support Removed )
and i do not know of any hack that will enable it to work

have you dug out that SSD and backed up your data and files that you need
That's the 1st Important Step.

Once you have done that you can wipe the drive and Reinstall
Version 1511 Build 10.0.10586
Then your in the Position of
865pe and Windows 10 Version 1511 Build 10.0.10586 was working perfectly,
including Catalyst Control Centre and everything else... deal with it!

I Would then Suggest you Lock it Down " No Updates no upgrading" and therefore no resumption of this Problem ( You might have to stop it going online )

Not Perfect but you end up with your System Running a Version of Win 10 ( as you must want ).

Ps once you get it working again as you want Image the Drive for Back up and restore.
Store back up off the PC

Sod it! New motherboard ordered (intel DB43LD)! The graphics card will be an Radeon R9 390.:rockout::peace:

Consign the bits to a Nostalgic Retro build XP pro ( probably best for the age of the hardware ):)
