I had a Saphire Radeon 7950 in my machine that was working fine without any hiccups. Then yesterday I power on my machine after shutting down the night before and the card will not show video.
First i tested with a different card and the machine completed post and attempted to boot into the OS.
Next I put the HD7950 back in and tested with the PEG power plugs on the card. With power to the card I can tell that the BIOS is getting somewhere in the POST because although it does not display I can press the power and it immediately powers off.
If i remove the PEG power plugs from the back of the card the BIOS will lock in POST and requires a long hold of the power to power back off.
I then booted with and nVidia card in slot 1 and the Radeon 7950 in slot 2. With this configuration, although the OS does not see the card, ATI flash can see the card and even pull the BIOS from the card.
Although this is not a complete PSU test I have a Radeon 4870 that is using the PEG power plugs from the PSU just fine at the moment.
Additionally the card does not get hot throughout any of these tests, and i tried all steps on both BIOS1 and BIOS 2.
So at this point I am not sure how to continue. The symptoms are very similar to another Radeon 7950 I had in the past that had failed and I posted on here. I got alot of help with that one although nothing i tried got that one running.
I know it is an older card at this point, I just don't really have the capital to invest in another card at the moment so I am really hoping to salvage this one.
I appreciate and advice that could be given!
