I tried to use the migration to ssd tool from pargon... to see if I can migrate the boot SSD to a !TB WD black hybrid drive and it didn't seem like the right options were there so I accidentally clicked "migrate" to see if it would pop up a dialog allowing me to select to and from drives but it didn't and I cancelled right away... is my main SSD OS safe? I'm currently booted into it now and I don't wanna loose it since I don't have it partitioned out! Please help ASAP!!

and the software doesn't reboot and go to a custom PE either.... it does it from windows online and no reboot....

please help asap.... I've been so burnt out from this crypto crap all day and I had to patch 20 computers.....

I bet you're fine. Usually migration is still a clone in my experience, that gives you the option to format the original drive when completed. Can't say I've used Paragon migrate before though...I've used various tools and all were the way I described iirc.

Here's a video of Paragon Migrate, fast forward to 7:20 and you'll have your answer.

Run an SFC check against the current OS drive and confirm integrity (I'd do this before migrating too).

I'd also say get the backup drive out and do a quick Macrium image (or similar) before going at this again. Better safe than sorry! :toast:

thing is it's supposed to have a wizard but the bottom thingy was just displaying "disk operations..." I don't know if it was just simply analyzing before the wizard to confirm was loading or what... very scant amounts of actual videos even from the company's own youtube channel! ugh I've used it before but I forgot how it went since it's been an overwhelming few months...

I just wanna make absolute sure that it didn't just auto select shit and kinda did it behind my back kinda thing...

This is why software shouldn't have odd interfaces like this that hide critical details in the name of hipster metro aestetics. Software should give clear info and not make you worry at all.. specially stuff like that where we don't care about the looks or stuff like that we want clear indication of what the software is doing and for stuff to not seem like you failed when you didn't.

Whenever you use clone type software it will never destroy any data from the source drive.

You need not worry.

thing is I am worried that it would have , since it is to migrate from HDD to SSD that it just picked a random drive and then tried to ruin my main OS drive on the SSD.

and I'm ust worried it "auto sensed" and started the process but there's very little videos on how it actually does things. ugh.

I've used Paragon before. As others stated, the migrate function keeps the original drive intact, it's just a clone basically.

well I thought it would have, based on what the status thingy on the bottom said,, would have messed up my current used boot OS I'm on at the moment and formatted it and cloned the bank drive to my current OS one but It's in tact after the reboot... so consider this solved but paragon should have worded the software better than "performing file operations" if it was merly SCANNING the drives!!! They should have worded it "scanning" not "performing operations" like you'd be lead to think it was automatically doing stuff.... Let this thread be a lesson for people using that software!
