So I have more problems with my computer and this one came out of no where. :shadedshu

I was listening to music through my computer this morning when I think i hit a button on my media remote probably the shut sown button. The music stopped and my computer was frozen. I shut it down and booted back up I noticed it booted very quickly (it usually takes awhile because of a audio driver conflict with my mobo and vista) After it booted I realized my external hard drives were not being recognized and my internet connection was not being picked up by my mobo's built in wifi. So I tried to restart again and it again froze. I then went into bios to check a few things but nothing came out of that. I later tried to put in my vista dvd to try and repair windows and when I did that it wouldn't even get into bios it would start up for a few sec and shut down I took out the dvd and the same thing happened, took the battery out of my mobo and reset the bios and still wouldn't boot! I took out all my ram and it didn't shut down but I couldn't get into bios ( can you get into bios with no ram?) I tried using one individual stick in all the slots but still just shuts down. I also took out all the usb devices out of the computer but that also did nothing to help.

Does anyone have a idea as to what is going on? I really need this computer to work i have my laptop right now but I sold it to a friend and hes picking it up tomorrow!!!

thanx in advanced.

You need at least 1 stick of RAM to boot, the PC will not function without it.

I would make sure all of your power connections are OK, check every power cable that goes into the mobo.

Then, try removing all add in cards, and try booting with 1 stick of ram. Make sure your keyboard, mouse and monitor are plugged in. Also, plug in all your HDDs, and make sure that power and the data cable are connected securely. Do the same for CD/DVD rom drives.

Just checked all the connections and everything seems to be where it should. I have everything unplugged except the keyboard and it's not a usb keyboard. It's been working fine for the past few days and i haven't touched anything on the inside. The only thing I can think of is I was unplugging my external HD last night to ttransfer some files to my laptop and when I plugged it back into my desktop it had trouble recognizing it at first but it did end up working.

Bump...

I really need to figure out the problem cuz I won't have a computer tomorrow. Could it be my mobo? I fried a CPU last week could it be that my mobo actually fried it and had done it again? I will be getting a new processor tomorrow so I that works would it mean my mobo is blowing my cpu's up? The CPU I have in there now is only a few days old and wasn't overcocked or running hot so I really don't know what to think. Please throw some more suggestions at me it seems to be a ram problem but unless all 4 sticks are bad it has to be something else.
Please Help.

Just tried another PSU and no difference. I thinking mobo which would suck. Could it be my mobo is messed up and frying my cpu's?

May be the mobo is gone. But seems like it is shorting itself. Make sure you have the mobo spacers installed properly and u have ur mobo on top of it. Try using platic washers between spacer, mobo and screw.

Pull the mobo, CPU, heatsink and ram put it on a anti-static mat, put ur video card and try to boot from there.

There is another thread going on similar to this. May be u can get some tips from that.

I just took everything out of the case and the computer didn't shut down :) but it also didn't boot the screen stayed black. :shadedshu So I put my GFX card in the other PCI-E slot and to my surprise it booted up. When I got into windows their was no internet connection again and it said it instilled new hardware and needed to restart but instead of restarting it just shutdown and not it's back to shutting off after a few seconds... I really don't know what to do or whats the hell is going on I have been at this all day..... Anything else I should try?

Alright so I have concluded the the motherboard is fuc*ed. I got my new 6000+ today and no boot so it has got to be the mobo.
Now im thinking it took out my 5200+ before it died. :banghead:

Well the mobo is still under warranty so I gave ASUS a call and im gonna send it in for a RMA. It wasn't easy though, they for some reason couldn't send me the shipping info to my email account after calling them back 3 times they just game me the info over the phone... Maybe it's their way of discouraging a RMA replacement. :p
