Help.. Constant EVGA GeForce 2080Ti card failures, artifacts, memory missing, low resolution

I really need some help, I've been a Pc builder for over 10 years but I've never seen anything like this before. I am now in the process of RMAing my 3rd EVGA GeForce 2080Ti Black Edition graphics card in a row.

Having build my Pc (spec below) all working fine for over year then black screen instant power off mid game and after that weird screen artifacts (like space invaders), device manger 43 errors and could only get lowest resolution. Did all the software first, display driver uninstaller, reinstalled windows, flashed bios even built another PC to test and confirmed hardware fault. RMA second card lasted a day and same issue with GPU-Z reporting no memory see screenshots.
Took all parts out and cleaned motherboard, reinstalled and fitted a brand new PSU using two separate PCI power cables, different monitor, different cables. 3rd card installed and instant fail, stuck on low resolution and no memory detected by GPU-z.

Here is the thing, every time I put my old graphics card GTX 460 back in the the system works perfectly with no issues, drivers installed games played fine. - any ideas/suggestions. There are many videos/you tubes about these cards failing but 3 in a row? what can even cause that? Its been over two months now and im just lost... any thoughts, constructive help would be massively appreciated..

ASUS X299 Strixx MB, Intel Core i9-9900x, GSkill Trident mem, ASUS ROG 850W PSU, AGON 35" ultrawide monitor,

just for the record did you test the new 2080ti in a different pc?
did you try testing the gpu in another pci socket?

Hi Mx62 - thanks for responding, yes tried it in the other PCI sockets but same issue and then built an old pc up just to test it on completely different hardware but same issue as card was fried, error code 43, stuck on low resolution, no mem found ....

Hi Mx62... you maybe asking did I try the replacement card in the different PC first before installing which I did not. however the second card did work for a day and then suddenly went whereas the 3rd card just died straight away.

Artifacting is generally a VRAM issue. When the 2080 Ti came out there were quite a bit of artifacting issues before the card died. I think it was because of the cheaper Micron VRAM which was replaced by the higher quality Samsung VRAM. It was not unusual to see buyers having to RMA the 2080 Ti over and over to finally get a card with the Samsung VRAM.

Just very bad luck most likely..... Doing an RMA is really your only good option.

Looks like a memory issue to me like others have said. Maybe they are sending you back the same card or refurbished ones.

Hi 64K, thats very interesting as ive just gone back to all the GPUz screenshots of the failed cards and they are all Micron memory...

the first replacement was a refurbishment for sure (but not my original as I paid for an enhanced RMA) but after insisting I got a brand new one but same issue

From what I remember this was mostly an issue on Micron based 2080ti too bad they won't send you a XC Ultra or FTW3

maybe a trashed refurbish card
but for what i understand this is your third card right?
its too much coincidence
I know micron vram has its issues but that bad, i didn't imagine

Actually just checked back to the very first card and that was Samsung memory (this card worked fine for 18 months) now the two new cards failed almost straight away. Could a motherboard fault be causing this but why would an older graphics card work fine?

This is likely the best answer. I've had evga send me back used power supplys multiple times that where dead. And with the gpu shortage and them selling off alot of their 2080ti's on B-Stock the month before the 3000 series dropped i can't see them having a lot of 2080ti's on hand.
