i want to connect my Blu-ray drive up to my internal usb 2.0 header on my MSI Z87I Gaming AC board so i need to see if i can find a pcb or something like this that's made for slim optical drives i can use, but since optical slim drives got a smaller sata/power connector i can't use this so anyone know if there is something like this with normal sata connector?

Ive read this like three time and I still cant figure out what you want

i need pcb with SATA connector on like this:

but i want to be able to connect it to internal usb 2.0 header on motherboard.

since i don't got any more sata ports left on my ITX board and i can't run a E-sata to sata cable into my cable, i want something like this, ino u can get it for slim optical drives but that don't work for me when i got normal 5.25" blu-ray drive.

I've never seen one with an internal header...... maybe you could get something like this and just cut the wires and solder on an internal header instead?
EDIT: it may not work also as some drives draw too much power for USB 2.0 unless you can find a way to directly power it from PSU?

nope, not gonna work sry, i don't mind having internal sata power connector since it will be internal so this here won't look good inside my case.

but after i found the pic i linked in my second post, i did a little digging and found it at Addonics Technologies.

the price is $26,99 for it plus shipping from Addonics Technologies and amazon.co.uk u wants £20 plus shipping they are really expensive, wish i could find a cheaper one.

got a price?

The problem is that its a 5.25" drive, probably your only option is the one 95Viper linked as other options would require an external power brick

I can't find the TEAC on retail... seems it may be an OEM product.
Jetster may be right about taking an enclosure apart; I believe they may only sell them to manufacturers.

However, Amazon has one that is very similar.
Koutech SATA 6G to USB 3.0 Motherboard Vertical Adapter

And, Addonics makes one similar: ADSAU3 - (Serial ATA to USB 3.0 converter

Ebay has a couple of similar items listed; however, they are shipped from China and the sellers are not high volume sellers.

you wont find it, because optical drives need 12V power, and USB only provides 5V.

the only way i see this working is with a PCI USB card with a regular USB port (not a header!) inside the case, and a USB-> sata dongle, using native SATA power.

i dont see why you'd go to such lengths to do this. performance of your drive will be hampered, and IIRC you wont be able to play encrypted blu ray movies over USB- something i read a while back.

Just like the TEAC... the Addonics & Koutech, both, derive 5V and 12V power from the power supply's sata power connector. And, they seem to be clones of the TEAC part.

I don't understand why it would not play the HDCP content, as, they sell USB connected drives that do.

it might have changed, but i had issues with it years ago when i first tried blu ray over USB.

Did you look on ebay ?.

i tried ebay not much to find at a good price, i can get a NoName Blu-ray player that can also do 3D for like £44 with shipping but then i would rather buy a Asus SBC 06D2X-U for about £10 more i know it's not 3D but atleast it's a name i can support.
