Hey everyone. I need help in identifying the brand and model of this card I bought from ebay that's supposed to be an XFX RX 580 4GB. GPU-Z identifies the bios as a powercolor branded card, however i get an error trying to force flash the xfx bios with code 0FL01 or something like that. Also, I decided to take it apart and saw the number 215-0876204 on the metal bracket that houses the die, which google search pulled up as an RX 470/480. This card only has 3 ports and macOS can't identify what it is. Windows 11 reports AMD Radeon RX 570 in device manager though. I'm assuming this was just flashed with a modded bios or something.

@freeza, eidairaman1 will sort you out, he's the man at fixing bios and so on. If not, wanna buy a Sapphire RX470? Not a mining card and never had anything done to it except I re-pasted it once.

EDIT Count von Schwalbe is good too...

Is there a white sticker on the back of the PCB?

Also, please take a picture of the VRAM chips. They look like Hynix AJR but it is good to be sure with a clearer photo.

It appears to be an RX 470 but the sticker should tell us the card vendor.

awesome thank you!

lol I only bought this to build a hackintosh. I read that rx 580s are natively supported in the latest macOS

Do us a favor and open gpu-z again and hit the Black Arrow Right next to the UEFI checkbox please. Attempt to upload the bios to the VGA Bios collection through GPU-Z, do not upload it here, you may receive a prompt of the bios already being in the Collection with a link, post that link here please.

Ok it's for sure a 4GB Card

And the Bios is a 2048 SP Bios which is RX580 2048, RX 570, possibly 470.

And as far as I know XFX would have the pcie bracket with XFX logo

Looks closer to a Powercolor/DataLand card, but Im sure I can find a straight AMD bios for it

Attempted to upload with the details from ebay (XFX rx 580) but it was a mismatch so I went with the closest to what I thought it would be: Powercolor Red Dragon Radeon RX 580 and it said the bios already existed!

Oops, forgot that they came as 8GB.
I cross referenced those ram chips, they are 4 Gibibit each which is 0.5 GibiBytex8=4GibiBytes Total

The physical die code is for Ellesmere - I believe the 570/580 used Polaris 20.
The Bios code 6FDF is for 2048SP Cards, Bios code 67DF is for 2304 SP Cards. They are not interchangeable

Well that is the most Current bios.

I have to ask is there anything wrong/not working correctly?

Not that I can tell. But the problem is: macOS will not identify this card. probably because it's not what it was advertised to be. Also, if I really did get an RX 470 instead of a 580 like i was supposed to, then i will have to open a case. Other than that, it works fine in Windows.

Device ID SSID 1002 6FDF 1002 0B31 is a GenericlReference RX 580 2048 SP, 570.

1002 6FDF 1682 C580 is a XFX 2048 SP RX 580

Ok so you are trying to get it to work with what mac os version? Do you have a list of RX500/400 cards that do work in MacOS?

I can't even get it to work in high sierra. In the clover bootloader it shows up as AMD Unknown and will only boot if i uncheck inject ati. macOS will then load generic drivers. I have real Sapphire RX 580 nitro+ SE that works fine but it's simply too big for the case i'm using. From the numbers that's on the metal plate near the die, do you think this is even a real rx 580?

Its a 2048 SP 580 which can be a 570 and 470 even, they were sold mainly in china.

This one might work. @eidairaman1 can confirm.

You may have to force it, especially if the BIOS on there is not from Sapphire.
Thats a Sapphire Bios bro, idk if it would work on a TUL or XFX card

I will provide 2 2048SP RX 580 XFX bios, i cannot guarantee they will just work at all, like the powercolor bios.

You have a spare gpu to use for a bios reflash on the 2048sp card incase of a brick, i have not found a 6FDF RX 470 bios only RX 570 or RX580 2048SP...

Ok pay close attention

There is great risk doing such a crossflash, so if it blanks out the monitor you will need to use an intel core i cpu or amd apu or a spare gpu so you can recover the bricked card.

Download atiflash/amdvbflash 2.93
Go here https://www.techpowerup.com/download/ati-atiflash/

Then look for Version 4.68, underneath 4.68 you will see a link to show older version, click that and you should see version 2.93

Then

Follow these steps carefully:

1. Open your "C:" drive in Windows, create a new folder, call it atiflash.

2. Extract the contents of atiflash_293.zip to the "C:\atiflash" folder

3. Find the bios file you downloaded and rename the bios file to 580sx.rom

4. Move 580sx.rom to the "C:\atiflash" folder

5. Open the start menu, type cmd, when cmd.exe appears right click it and hit "Run as administrator"

6. At the command prompt type in cd\ and press enter until only C:\> is on the screen.

7. Type in cd/atiflash and press enter, you should see C:\atiflash>

7a. At C:\atiflash> type in amdvbflash -i to identify your gpu with a number (0, 1, 2)

8. At the C:\atiflash> prompt type in
amdvbflash.exe -unlockrom 0 (or 1, 2)
(there is a space between the e and -unlockrom and 0)(0 is the number zero)
press enter and you will be prompted that the "ROM Unlocked"

9. At the C:\atiflash> prompt type in
amdvbflash.exe -f -p 0 580sx.rom (or 1, 2)
(there is a space between the .exe and -f, and a space between -f and -p and 0)press enter.

Follow directions on screen and if flash is successful exit the command prompt and restart, windows should show up on screen
