Help me design a cpu watercooled loop

That Alphacool has a D5 integrated. I would suggest that you first look and set a statement after.
I wasn't replying to you lol
You posted just before I did is all.

Hi,
Save money stay away from EK lol

Yep, that would save about $65. Thanks guys, I understood even with the confusion lol.

What size tubing should I consider and type of fittings? No funky worm clamps please...just something clean looking that doesn't leak. Revised total is now $355.

This one has the pump included, right? https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-quantum-kinetic-tbe-200-d5-pwm-d-rgb-acetal (almost 8" tall :() So now the total is at $418.
Look at it this way
EK stil to this date does not have a rma center in the US

Corsair does
This is basic warranty advice is to choose products that can be easily rma'ed.

Hi,

Buy an Aplhacool Eisbaer 240 or 360.
Yeah, these are great. All solid parts, ST30 Rad, DC-LT pump & a decent block at a reasonable cost. Pre-assembled custom loop in a box.

By the way this is probably the best US cpu water block maker

So, we have the cpu block, radiator and pump/res covered thus far. What about the tubing and fittings?

Hi,
Fittings are all about the same
Barrow is good quality and okay priced

If you want rotary fittings bitspower can't find a 3/8 - 5/8 one though
But this type of 90 degree is pretty much what I would use if was going to use some.
Thermalfake though lol

Unfortunately those are for hard tubing.

Soft tubing wise I use this stuff

Yeah that stuff is good.

3/8-5/8" is a good size to.

Do all of the pumps use a friggin molex connector? Why?

Wonder how loud this unit is lol... https://modmymods.com/alphacool-es-orbiter-360-ts-11932.html Would only have two tubes inside the case hehe.

Thanks for that link - https://modmymods.com/ That's a real one stop shopping site there. I've even found suitable radiators at a cheaper price. :toast:
Hi,
Yeah their shipping is not so great but they do have good prices
They also have stuff on amazon so double check before hitting them up

Older models do use molex
I've never had any issues with the connection personally but yeah sata is better.
Optimus does have sata D5 pumps

Well that corsair d5 pump reservoir has three connections on it so one can easily be used as a drain.

Kind of moot though. In this configuration it would be impossible to refill without completely removing the entire system.

This one still suitable? https://modmymods.com/alphacool-eisstation-vpp-with-d5-vpp655-pwm-13798.html It has a much lower profile.

Not as horrible as expected...minus three fans and coolant. Thanks to all for the guidance and assistance...I now know a little more about what is needed. Here is what I had originally given thought of trying... https://www.newegg.com/golden-field-liquid-cooling-system/p/13C-00S4-00003?Item=9SIB30PFNE6021 Someone had mentioned in another thread it was a re-branded CooliT AIO.

Hi,
I'd swap the heatkiller for the optimus.

You'll like the clear type because at a glance you can tell if your water block is clogged

Another way to drain w/o a drain port is to use compressed. I've actually never needed a specific drain. I just pop the one QDC I use then hello Datavac and blow that old water out with two extra hose lengths with matching QDC. One hose goes to Datavac and the other end goes into the tub, etc etc. That's how I drain a loop.

Kind of moot though. In this configuration it would be impossible to refill without completely removing the entire system.

Wait isn't the new Acool cpu block the best on the market?

designing means you actually have to use a PC build simulator with all the parts and produce a render image. so far from it. and why are you mixing all kinds of parts from different vendors. stick to alphacool.

Some say yes, some say no. Depends on the tester. I would choose the Techn cooler or an (as i did again) Heatkiller IV. I wouldn't take an Alphacool or EKWB for my CPU.

Looks like I'm late to the party.

Don't forget a bottle of vinegar (to clean radiator) and distilled water to rinse and flush.
Remember beside avoiding mixed metals (copper/aluminum), no vinegar on nickle plating, and no alcohol on acrylic.

Some paper towels. I like to use blue shop paper towels cause it's really easy to see when they are wet.

I recommend some Koollance quick disconnects in the proper size. Makes it easy if you need to remove components later without having to drain the loop.
Also get a leak tester. Alphacool and EK both have one it seems.
It's a good idea to make a little loop diagram to ensure you have all the parts you need and where you are going to need them. If anything you typically find you need more fittings than previously thought.

EK makes a nice short push/pull-valve type drain port with female threaded end. This is nice to both put an extension tube for draining the loop or a tube as shown below for pressure testing when the system is drained. Much smaller than the room it takes for a ball valve. Also you can put a threaded cap on the end just to make sure there isn't a leak in the valve. In the picture below I have one on the end of a 90deg fitting so I can swivel the thing out when needed. I happen to have 2 of these in my system to help drain both sides of the distroplate.

With enough quick disconnects in the right location you can temporarily inline filters or use the tube (with a QDC at one end) for draining the loop as well.
The filter below is overkill but I just wanted to try it.

Probably the most ridiculous statement I have seen on this forum to date...

Yep. Mix and match is always the best way to get the highest quality parts in your loop.

After much thought and review I have decided when I move on this it will be with hard line. That is the only way in my mind it will retain a clean look once complete and isn't really that much of a impact on cost.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a cable for my new Be Quiet psu had both molex and sata connectors. Don't recall my EVGA or Corsair psu's having this...I thought molex was a long ago passed up thing. Problem solved for those molex equipped pumps.

Wise choice. Now you have the benefit of picking up parts at your leisure while their on sale rather than going into, hurry up and buy mode. Hardline looks great when coupled with nice fittings and you can usually find every color under the sun if that's something you enjoy. Be sure to grab a couple extra pieces if this is your first go round tho. Mastering the bends can be a challenge.
