I have the ASUS monitor, I love it.
The speakers on it suck though, so forget about them. Also while it might be rated at 2ms, they use something called overdrive to achieve it, the problem is that if the environment is slightly cool(like below 70F) it can cause some pretty nasty ghosting. So ASUS disables it by default, and the only way to turn it on is to go into a secret menu and turn it on, and you have to do that every time you turn the monitor on. Originally they shipped with it on be default, but after a lot of complaints about the ghosting they disabled it by default. Personally, I don't use it and never notice any ghosting at whatever response time it runs at without overdrive(my guess is 5ms).
The 700:1 contrast ratio is fine and I use it for gaming all the time. Even in games that don't support widescreen it looks nice, but there aren't many modern games that don't anyway, so it really doesn't matter.
