Help me upgrade my GPUs

Hi, I'm thinking about upgrading my video card setup around christmas...

Would like to know what Video card setups would be my current one ?

(I got 2x 6950 2gb in CF, with unlocked shaders...

Look @ my specs before recommending me new video cards please.

I just replaced a pair of 5870 cards with a single 7970. I'm happy with the performance of the single 7970 compared to the 5870 crossfire set-up I was running. No noticable perfromance drops. Infact, with the added VRAM of the 7970, I problably have a higher min FPS.

hmmm, what about the coming 7990? or the nvidia 690?

If you are going to upgrade around Christmas you might as well wait for the next gen HD 8970 / HD 8950 and GTX 780 / 770. They are scheduled for Jan 2013 launch. You can expect these cards to be significantly faster than the current gen high end cards.

There has been no official news on the 7990s performance so in your case wait till then before you make your choice.

well... it looks like they're releasing cards that are going to be "significantly" more powerful than the best ones on the market every 6 months now lol ...

the gtx 690 is currently the fastest graphic card on the world so it's a really good card

I like the idea of 6gb on a single card... I absolutly love the new concept of "adaptive V-sync" in Nvidia cards... any of you guys notice improvments from that feature ?

Ok guys, here's my question though: I wanna upgrade my current setup because I wanna be able to MAX game graphics for a few years... Here's the thing: I sold one of my 2x 6950 2gb a little while ago, so now I'm down to just 1x 6950 2gb...

But here's my real question: with my CURRENT setup (look @ my SPECS pls...) what would be the wisest upgrade? I don't wanna get a card that is going to be bottlenecked by my CPU/RAM/MObo setup...

I also wanna verify a few things I was told:

- NVIDIA seems to have better GPUs in general (better driver support too I hear...)
- NVIDIA cards go better with intel CPUs and AMD cards go better with AMD CPUs

Are these statements true?

(EDIT: other quick question: Some single cards have "dual-gpus" in em... does this mean they use Crossfire Drivers or normal drivers?)
