Help overclocking RAM!!

Hello, i have by far the worst 1gb ram ever as you can see lower and I want to know if I can tighten the timings in my mobo, the PWD2-E Premium, I heared its a very good motherboard and I want to know an expert with this mobo preferably how to tighten the timings please I would appreciate it

If I remember correctly, it is OCZ Value ram. The problem with almost all value ram is that it is barely able to run stock timings and if you get anything over stock timings/speeds you are lucky. The best I could off is to say make sure you know hoew to clear cmos and start trying to lower timings. Start by running it @ 200MHz and lower the timings and see if it boots/runs. Using memtest would be the best way tyo do it because you can do the in dos before windows loads. Just keep increasing until you get errors. Once you find the maximums that way, back it down slightly and call that your max memory overclock. Otherwise, you want to invest in some really good memory for overclocking if you really want to get the most out of your CPU.

do you recommend OCZ Titanium ram, or if so or not... What other ram please Im looking for 2 gb of good ram and I dont want to spend more than 400 bucks.. around that area

Hey there.I beleive the best Rams you can buy are these-Kingston KHX4300D2K2/IG. Go check them out at kingston's website.

Skip kingston as they are always overpriced. Good ram, but overpriced. OCZ makes some of the best ram and I always run them. Titanium series is very good so you can't really lose. Get the tightest timings you can possible afford, and try to get PC6400 (DDR2 800) as well as it will be easier to overclock.

Just about anything on this page is good. Stick to CAS4 ram.

OCZ are cheaper but watch their timings.OCZ->5-5-5-10 kINGSTON->3-3-3-8
I overclocked my ram timings and got them to 3-3-2-4. I don't thing OCZ have such an overclocking power as Kingstons.

PETEPETE have you tried overclocking your ram? Download SYSTool (you can find it all over the web) and start overclocking. It doesn't need to support your motherboard,just go to the memory tabs and start having fun.

alright thanks.. but I dont understand, this is supposed to be 2GB Dual Channel.. it says I have 1024 single channel and terrible timings... i got so ripped?

I got the blue screen of death... crashed my computer and said beginning memory dump etc all that jazz....

Try setting the refresh rate to 15.6us.If it doesn't change to 15.6us let it as it is.Then do one of the following

1) Try setting the timings to 5-5-5-10.

2) Start changing all other values by one at a time until system crashes. The last setting you had is the last STABLE setting.

Example:Now you've got 5-6-6-reserved-7.8us
Change it to these: 5-6-6-reserved-15.6us
If it works set to: 5-6-5-reserved or 10-15.6us
If it doesn't set to:5-6-5-reserved or 10-7.8us
Then try setting to 5-5-5-10 or 9-15.6us or 7.8us

set that 6 to 5 too if you can.set that reserved to higher possible(not reserved) and start lowering until system crashes.Keep the value that had before the crash

Nothing is crap. Just boost it up and it will be working just fine. Oh, in SYSTool their is a value which is not set to a number.<-that is reserved. Change it to the higher possible and start lowering the value until system crashes.

Change the tRas to a value that hasn't got a "reserved".Keep lowering it

set it to 15.If it is stable keep lowering until you get to a value that will crash your pc(blue screen).

i am at 5-5-5-6 but I dont want to destroy my RAM.. will it??

also, should I mess with the Refresh mode which is 15.6 or will it not make performance much better??


is 5-5-5-6 Pretty good for OCZ valu? and make a guess to how low i can put it at please

5-5-5-6 is very good. Or at least is much better than your earlier settings. Don't mess with the refresh rate.15.6us is the best value(As higher as possible. By the way, your ram will never be destroyed just by changing timings.NEVER. Lower all values as much as you can.

PS:Your ram is now faster than the OCZ stock rams
