Help please?

Hi guys my friend currently has a Phenom 965 overclocked to 3.8ghz. And he would like to upgrade his GPU (560) to a 7970. I wanted to make sure that his CPU wouldn't bottleneck the card and he would see performance gains. Thanks.

It is not a bottleneck, rather a scalability.

I have a 7950 and a 945 @ 3.4 GHZ. With my GPU overclocked to 1120 24/7, there is not a thing out there I cant max, where all but a few never go under 60 FPS. You are safe.

I am looking for a GPU if your friend ever cares to sell the 560.

It should be fine! Does he currently have the GTX560 or the GTX560Ti?

Its a 560 dude. He wants to hold on to it tho. He is making a spare rig for when friends come around.

Will you get the most out of the GPU. No. Will he see a difference that warrants the upgrade. Yes.

IMO, I think his current GT 560 is the sweet spot.

Is he going AMD for his new build? I'd also recommend he upgrade to a 6-core or 8-core Piledriver.
