I am building a Ethereum mining rig with a z170 motherboard, Asus z170-a-atx model of motherboard and G3930 kaby lake model cpu, I have a g4400 skylake cpu on the way.

If the motherboard needs a bios flash to work with the kaby lake g3930 will the motherboard POST to Bios or not. I am not getting any POST info on the monitor. I tried hooking up the DVI connector to the motherboard and single rx480 and nothing shows up.

I have 0 experience with this and little experience with building a desktop.

If it needs flashed to support a Kaby then chances are it wouldn't post at all.

First, check mobo's website for BIOS info. See which one starts to support Kaby lake and then go into your BIOS and see BIOS version.

If it is too old, the mobo won't boot or post anything. In some cases, it will act more nicely and return CPU error.

If today was Monday, I wouldn't have posted this.

The Celeron G3930 is in the QVL, so it should post.
Try the onboard graphics using that CPU, and only install one stick of Ram.
Make sure all power connectors are firmly seated (24 pin & 8 pin) and check for led or Q code readouts when attempting to boot.

you have 2 different CPU'S, it will work with 1 of them or should!!

Well I guess I will have to wait until tomorrow for the skylake g4400, I have no way to flash newer bios on this motherboard. I dont have another skylake cpu, that one comes tomorrow.

Well I unhooked the 1 rx480 and went with the onboard processor gpu and the motherboard loads win 10 but I found out that the vga to dvi converter doesnt work so I need to find a DVI only monitor since the rx480 doesnt have vga.

Asus mobo should let you flash without a CPU. Even Asus' server line motherboards let you do that. Refer to your manual on how.
