Hey guys I just bought a new system and for some reason the ram is not running at its advertised speed. I would love it to run at 1600 mhz but i would be content with 1333. I just dont know what to do to get them running at those speeds. Alot of people are telling me up the fsb to get good fsb:dram ratio. Can someone tell me what i need to do to get this ram running at 1333 or 1600 mhz.

Here are some pics of cpu-z

You need to adjust the RAM multiplier so it's at 1600mhz and adjust the timings to the correct timings. What motherboard are you using?

Asus M4A78T-E motherboard

And thanks for answering so fast lol was on two other forums and they still havent answered after 5 days. :D

Ok, your bios is similar to mine. There should be an option to set the ram to 1600mhz in the bios. Also, when changing the timings for the RAM you just want to change the top four settings. The timings should be printed on the ram sticks. Something like 8 8-8-24.

Awesome thanks. im goinh to sett them and see if it works.
What do i do if the computer does not boot up after changing settings ?

reset the CMOS as per your manual, reboot and try again. If it fails that is, and wont let you back into bios on the reboot.

K got them running at 1600 mhz but the timings seem very high lol.
The ram suggested timings at 1600mhz are 9-9-9-24 should i just go and set them like that ?
Is there a program i can run to see how stable the memory is ?
Thanks so much. Im kinda a newbie.

Heres a pic.

set them in bios to match rated latencies.

Download an ISO of memtest86+ 2.0 or better, and burn it to disc. make sure the bios boots CD first and boot the rig with the disc in. let it do a couple passes. if it fails try voltages or timing changes until memtest runs for a couple passes.

Ok i went in the bios to manually set the timings to 9-9-9-24 but i get a whole bunch of options like:

TCL, TRCD, TRP, TRAS, TRTP, TRC, TWR, TRRD, TRWITO, TWRRD, TWTR, TWRWR, TRDRD

Which one of these settings do i put each timing in ?
I dont wana do somthing wrong and scew up :D

Thanks, inDeeD

This pic is from some elses pc those are not my timings, just curious aboutall those settings

google an app called memset. it will show you most of those timings, but you should be fine with "auto" settings.

I have no experience in c++ so should i just stick with the 11-11-11-30 timings ?
what exactly does memset do ? went the website and still confused.

hahahah Awesome.
You helped so much
Ram now running at 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 .....sweet
now i just need to do memtest86.

Thanks so much erocker and sneekypeet.

hope it al goes well, good luck.
