Hey guys, im having some issues with installing race driver: GRID. i got the disc, an OEM version with my Accelero this morning, however when i start installation i get the following message about 10 minutes after starting the install:

Can anyone advise me on what to do? I really was looking forward to this game too :(

Try running the installer as administrator?

^That would be my guess. Get ready for some great eye candy and a tough game. No mouse though.

Try running the installer as administrator?

You for vista you need to open the install DVD in explorer, then locate the setup file and right click the "setup.exe" file and select "Run As Administrator"... that should solve it for you ;)

i think i already tried as admin, ill try it again now though, report back in a few minutes! cookies go out if it works! :D

exactly the same error. Methinks the disc is fudged. ffs! gonna have to send it back now :shadedshu

hmmm.... sucks dude...
did that oem game come with a serial key?... if it did, then just download the installer for the game and register with your key ;)

no, no key.

then i dunno dude....
I had a similar issue with my Asus xonar soundcard... it came with a whole lot of software, but had no serial keys! lolol
Personally i wasnt fussed about sending the soundcard back over a few programs though.

dude... i got another idea... why not create a disc image of the DVD, then try mounting the volume & running the installer locally from your pc... that would evade any issues with your DVD player not reading it properly.

i guess i could try. I did copy the entire disc to my desktop with no problems, however, so the disc seems to be fine

you need software that can create a disc image (ISO file)... and a virtual drive software that allows you to mount a local ISO file and run it as if it were on a disc.

Its going to be a mission i guess but is worth a shot as it could be your dvd reader giving the errors

im going to try that in a sec. I hope the disc does work properly, ill be well bummed if it doesnt.

I think I ran into that with STEAM also...IIRC I ticked ignore and installed it anyways. Whats the worst, you have to uninstall it if its fubar'd?

ill have to try it, its just waiting for it to bring that box up each time . . . ill get back to you on that one.

Yay! its installing now :D :D :D

When i turned my PC on earlier i got an error message, something to do with my firewall (Commodo) so i clicked the send now button, blah blah blah. Dropped the disc in after a reboot, commodo asked if the setup could access shiz, i said yes, and now its installing :D

What the hell, free cookies for everyone! :D

Excellent! I hope you will be online playing some demo derby soon! I look forward to wrecking you! You and this jerk named glaze! He's a dead man!

haha i would be more than happy in assisting you to the automobile graveyard ;)

run the game as a different user, like administrator if the account isnt disabled. Also, right click my computer > manage > logs and alerts > application error logs. This will tell you exactly on the dot what the problem is.

what the hell am i supposed to do now? :shadedshu

Now its asking for a serial. I dont have one as it was an OEM copy free with my Accelero!

The serial didn't come on the CD sleeve or anywhere else? Contact the people you got the accelero from.

i got a couple of messages cant remember what they were sry but i just hit retry a few times and it carried on installing fine.

im sure the key is somewhere, i remember looking everywhere for it once, and it was in the first page of the booklet. Sometimes it is inside the case, on the paper that is actually inside of the cd case, sometimes it is on a card in the case, that falls out etc, etc...

On the cd sleeve there is a 7 character long code seperated by dashes. Nothing on the receipt whatsoever.

Trying that now.

dude i had the same thing on my Asus xonar D2X card.... I had the CD but no codes for any of the software...
sucks!

You could get the no DVD "fix" it's yours legally anyway. No online though.
