HIFIMAN updates its popular HE1000 V2 with stealth magnets! The new HE1000 Stealth takes on the more expensive HE1000se by offering a bassier sound and being easier on the ears while retaining the same excellent comfort and fit to make for a compelling premium headphones offering.

Planar magnetic headphones tend to have low impedance and low sensitivity, they still have excellent signal to noise often besting high impedance dynamic driver sets. Don't just dismiss for the sake of it.

If could get my hands on a Hifiman Edition XS for $299 on sale, I would do that and sell my HD58X. They seem to never go on sale though and I have been patient for a long time now, lol

Great review. I've been exceptionally happy with my $109 Hifiman 400SE (stealth), so I can only imagine the quality of these cans! Unfortunately my wife tells me that I can't afford them... :D

Your wife is more practical than most people on this website. It's free to read about and try things though!

I have heard the 400SE, honestly its diminishing returns pretty heavily after that point, so you should enjoy them. the Hifiman Ananda is to this day the best headphone I have ever heard, better than the $1500 Hifiman Jade estat imo, that being said it wasn't like night and day better than a 400SE. That is a good headphone.

Jade 2 requires a decent amp. The one it comes with as a combo isn't very good and holds back the headphones. Ananda is much easier to get going and yeah it's tuned very well. There's a new version called Ananda Nano which is supposed to be even better.

I've had a pair of the HE-400i's for almost 5 years that I really enjoy. I reach for them equally as much as the HD-650s. They've been rock solid with nothing more than a set of earpads and a set of cables from Amazon to keep them like new.

That being said, I have my eye on trying a closed-back planar. My ears say yes, but my wallet says no.

Outside of Dan Clark Audio, I haven't been impressed by any closed-back planar.

It's the Aeon 2 Noire that's I'm thinking about. :)

This may be way more expensive than the Aeon 2 Noire, but here's a teaser for what's in the works:

Yup, at the very least it's worth a demo.
I can only afford to demo it. $4,000 is no joke, but headphones with such a clean curve deserve a listen.

Hello, VSG.
Your reviews are always really helpful.
I'm looking for a headphone for movies.
HE1000 Stealth, Arya Organic or Arya Stealth.
Which of these do you think is the most suitable?
I've only heard of the Arya Stealth, but I loved the forward imaging.
The treble was a little irritating to my ears. But, It was good overall.
I would appreciate it if you could give me your thoughts.
I'm also waiting for the Arya Organic review.
Thanks you.

Hello, welcome to TechPowerUp! I haven't heard the Arya Organic yet, I'll have an opportunity to do so this weekend at a show. But those aren't ideal listening conditions so I can't guarantee I'll be able to give you an answer until my review sample comes in.

Thank you for your reply.
I think the Arya Stealth is good enough for watching movies.
But, I would like to wait for your answer until the Arya Organic review comes.
I am looking forward to it!

Great review, but flawed. HiFiMAN headphones NEED 150-200 hours of "real world" break-in to show their final form, and the HE1000 stealth are no exception. From my own personal experience (I currently own the HE1000 stealth, Ananda stealth, and Sundara) 50 hours is when the headphones "start" to come alive. After 100 hours the HE1000 stealth become more lush and open with substantially less fatigue in the upper treble. As of this writing (while listening to the HE1000 stealth), I would describe the sound signature to be neutral-warm with well extended treble. But that's just my 2 cents.

Hasn't this been proven over and over that "break-in" is not a real thing?

I am sure you found it to change but I did not after the many hours I put everything through, including this set. I'll agree to disagree on the review being flawed as a result of just break-in :)

Only if you listen to the wrong people. Trust your ears, not someone's opinion. Frequency response will not change with break-in, but EVERY other aspect of the sound will such as soundstage, instrument separation, glare/peakiness, and overall refinement, all which can not be measured.
