It's between a Nitro 7800xt or a Jetstream 4070ti.
I have a 750W PSU
I'm pretty good at pushing my cards.
Ive got great airflow
I use a G7 - 1440p, 240hz, Freesync Pro

Which would you pick? Prices are 480 and 660.

Both are good at those prices you cant really go wrong either way I like DLSS way more than being stuck with FSR, but also like the 16GB of the 7800XT.

If you already have an Nvidia card and are use to how they behave that might be the better choice but if you have plenty of experience on amd hardware then it's a toss up.

Personally I would lean towards the 4070ti at that price but like I said it really is a toss up.

Prices are too apart, so obviously 4070Ti would be the choice if it's not a concern. Simply it's a faster card at pretty much everything. DLSS is also a big plus. Downside of 4070Ti is 12GB VRAM and 192bit bus holding it back a little at higher resolutions. But both are minor concerns.

If you like to push your card, 7800XT would be a quite fun. You can be about 5% distance of stock 4070Ti on average so basically matching it at non-RT 1440p scenarios. 4070Ti doesn't really have a good potential on it, you'd better of chasing efficiency tuning instead. 4070Ti isn't as efficient as its bigger and little brothers on stock.

If RT is an important factor for you, 4070Ti is superior in most demanding titles. It's a genuinely good card to run 1440p DLSS Quality for RT titles.

That being said, there are 40 series SUPER cards rumored one of which may target 7800XT specifically so there is that.

Do you use or care about Nvidia specific features like DLSS, RTX, or Gync? If yes buy Nvidia. If no buy AMD.

Does your area have obscenely high energy costs? If yes, you might want to do the math in energy costs because Nvidia might be cheaper.

I would choose AMD for me. I don't use or care about Nvidia specific features. I have cheap energy.

Bizarre comparison you picked here, 4070ti is closer to a 7900XT in price than a 7800XT.

In some territories the 7900XT is 100+ usd more expensive than the 4070ti my guess is this is the case for the OP.

Since he said the 7800XT, a fairly newly released card is 480 I doubt a 7900XT is 760, 100 over the quoted 4070ti price.

I'm in the EU (with fairly cheap electricity) and these are special prices I have from a friend as a reseller. Normally the 7800xt is about 550 minimum and the 4070ti is 800 minimum.

I don't care about RT. I do care about upscaling tech if I can't hit 90 FPS. I use FSR and Xess regularly.

If you can afford $660 for the 4070 Ti then no-brainer get that.

Even if a cheap model and runs hot I'd have a blast undervolting and optimizing it with minimal performance tradeoff, which is exactly what I did with my El Cheapo 1080 back in the day.

According to TPU 4070ti is only 16% faster in raster and even with those lower prices you'd be paying 180 euros for that, not worth it in my opinion. Buy the 7800XT and OC it.

Pick cheaper one. Progress is really fast these days so after 12-18 month you can pick next generation card 3 nm process node. Everything you can pick now will be obsolete pretty soon.

So you must live in Poland I guess.

I agree cheaper one is better choice now but dont try OC - try to keep T as low as possible for maximizing longevity. If you really need more perforance just buy next generation card sooner.

You just get the fastest card you can. There's nothing else to think.
If you wrote 7900XT vs 4070Ti, then ok, we can discuss.
But now, you just go for the 4070Ti. No matter how much cheap the 7800XT is.

I would prefer 7800XT $100 cheap than anything else on the market available now ;) But talking seriously we will see sharp drop in price for rtx 4000 generation when amd next generation will be available next year paired with gddr7 memory chips. So cheaper rx 7000 cards will drop less at the same moment. Only chinese invasion against Taiwan would hike the prices for sure.

Also while I think if something is actually announced people should wait... Waiting 6-12 months for the next release doesn't make a lot of sense neither does listening to rumors. Ces is still almost 3 months away That's a lot of time to be gaming on better hardware.

4070 Ti or 7900 XT, you clearly have the money.
Unless you want RT, nothing cripples either at the moment.

Put into perspective the 7900 XT at the base TUF OC clock of 2.8ghz can run ASS Creed Odysee in 5K with maxed settings above 60 FPS everywhere. It may not seem impressive but 5120x2880 is a hell of a lot more pixels than 3840x2160.

The most common 5K resolution is 5120 × 2880, which has an aspect ratio of 16∶9 with around 14.7 million pixels (just over seven times as many pixels as 1080p Full HD), with exactly twice the linear resolution of 1440p and four times that of 720p.

The TUF OC is not an expensive version and is around 12% faster than a stock 2.4ghz 7900 XT, these easily do above 3ghz adding around another 7-10% So looking at a total of 40% faster than a base 7800 XT.

OK. Let me explain. I didn't said it will be drop at brand new market. I mean 2nd hand market of used cards. These days gamers paying premium for 4N node silicon and nVidia's drivers but when next generation will be available we will see more competitive silicon - to TSMC 4N - from Samsung and Intel as well. GDDR7 will be mainstream standard , so 12GB 21GT/s GDDR6x memory subsystem will be outdated a bit. So there will not be the reason for paying premium price for rtx 4000 line. But leather will be still expensive but with their next generation line. There are some other factors which could influence drop scale at that moment. But I'm sure in 5 years we'll see both the 7800xt and 4070ti on the secondary market at very similar prices. Therefore, buying AMD for gaming simply saves money. Buying a graphics card for a rental setup is a completely different story.

Think about frame generation and dlss 3.5 of nvidia. Even the dead body of 4070ti will be better than the most pumped up 7800xt.

Nvidia is even going to bring these:

- direct texture loading from SSD into graphics card with gpu-decompression which will require more GPU pipelines than rendering pipelines
- dlss 4.0???
- more support in programming libraries for AI
- possibly some texture compression related AI to utilize low VRAM better to enable more game settings (because why not?)

Dead body will always stay as dead body nothing else or nothing more. Keep in mind your super duper 4070ti is still stuck at dp 1.4 with 1/3 perfromance of dp2.0 what you can find at 7800xt. If the whole world would end tomorrow than trying 4070ti today maybe would have sense but since after tomorrow we can get way better toys for less , so what is the point for wasting money today ? All these features available today at rtx 4000 line will be available in 12-18 month time span with additional features and even much more performance with next generation. After 5 years since now rtx 4000 line will be as much obsolete as rtx 1000 line is now , so all the fuss above (dlss and other features) will be irrelevant.
