I have had a lot of thought on these 2 cards which i have stated in my next possible build, which would be better for my suitable need,i would only be playing mainly like valve games and cod 4 etc etc i don't think i would be bothered with DX11 games.

So i've come into conclusion in not buying the 5750 anymore and go for the 4850 or 4870,which would be better? here is the possible build of the rig specs:
CPU- AMD Athlon II X3 425
Mobo - MSI 770-C45 AMD 770 AM3
RAM- Crucial 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz/PC3-10600 Memory Kit CL9 1.5V
PSU- Corsair VX 450W
HD- Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB
Case- Antec 300
DVD drive- Some Sony sata DVD drive

I will only be gaming on 1280x1024 so both cards would handle it perfectly but the 4870 requires 2 6pin connectors? the 450w corsair only has 1 6pin so would 1 molex to 6pin connector and the original 6pin work?
The 4850 would run perfectly with the psu and it cost £80

Get the 4870. It will last longer in the long haul. Get a beefier PSU like a Corsair 550W. The 450W may run the system just fine, but you would be pushing it either to max or higher while gaming. Never skimp on the PSU or case.

the budget is limit to about £420 so the corsair 550W is a no go =/

Get one of the 5700. It will be more powerful than the 4850, about 90% to 96% the power of the HD 4870, but they will use far less power so your 450W should be plenty.

Considering your budget, I would guess the 5750 should be in your price range.

The HD 4850 ~ HD 5750 and they are between 8% and 18% better than the 8800 GT when gaming.

the 4870 is good go with that as i said in another thread the 8800gt to 4850 isnt a big jump

the xfx is a good brand has good cooling too

Personally, I would stick with the 8800GT until you can afford a bigger upgrade. There would be a performance increase, but nothing worth the money, especially not at 1280x1024, the 8800GT should handle everything at that resolution.

I'd sink that money into a better power supply now, then upgrade the video card later on down the line. The new video card might last you 6 months longer than the 8800GT, but if you get a good 700w+ power supply now, it can last you a very very long time, through multiple new builds(assuming you stick with single or possibly dual card setups).

dude I would go for the HD5700 series if ur going to use ur 450W PSU, they are way more enery efficent, doesnt really matter which 5700 series card u get because of ur low resolution, thats just my advice, hope it helps!!!

Fanboy What nvidia ? Thats why i have 2 rigs both with ATI cards. I couldnt give a t*ss who makes the gpu's i use.

I have thought about the 5750 a lot now but if its doesn't perform better than 4850 in titles i play then its a no go,unless someone can prove the 5750 is better than the 4850 then i may consider it but like i said the 5750 looks more like an improved version of 4770

@newtekie yeah a 4850 may not seem a big upgrade and i should wait but i maybe selling my current rig in 3weeks or so and i would be building a brand new rig with new parts so i need consider a card that is as good as my 8800GT or better

I would just stick with the 8800GT. I have a 9800GT and it was plenty fast for me, even with Crysis (it was the highest demanding game that I own, as I don't have many other games) @ 1440*900. Save up for a 5850 or 5870.

I tried to run a 4850 with a corsair 450 (and an overclocked q6600) and it booted but wasn`t stable.

HD5770 would do the trick then, its better than the hd4850 and just behind the hd4870 and at the same time saving you power, drivers will get better too and increase performance eventually, DX11 and eyefinity are just bonus's, hope this helps.

Those charts are for one game at maxed out settings, at a resolution I don't think your monitor is even capable of. The chart I posted earlier gives a more balanced view. You can click around the article and find specific games and they will show you performance based on settings and resolution.

Since this is an overhaul and not a upgrade, I do have to concur you should wait and save a few more bucks and get a little more bang for your buck. But if the 450W is going to stay the 5000 series provides the power and the energy efficiency.

Also keep in mind the 5700 series does even have driver support yet. Once the CCC 9.11 drivers are out, you will see a massive jump in performance for those cards across the board, I promise you that.
