Homefront PC developer Digital Extremes revealed a load of new details about Homefront through the game's official site. The developers confirmed a few things we already knew from previous coverage, like Steamworks support and the Dedicated Server Browser. The PC version will also have its own squad management system complete with VOIP and clan support.

Digital Extremes noted that the game will feature LAN support, an important element to the legacy of PC gaming. Among interface tweaks for mouse-and-keyboard optimization, Homefront will feature match recording and up to 32 players online, with scaling post-launch based on demand. The team also says that mod tools will not be included with the game; however, those features may be added at a later time.

The revelation of timed-exclusive 360 DLC upset some in the PC crowd, but it was purely a business decision. The move is meant to promote the game, which Digital Extremes says will benefit all three versions. Apparently Microsoft offered the deal early in the development process, and they chose to take advantage of the console manufacturer's marketing muscle.

Vehicles will offer more options on the PC version, allowing players to use 1st or 3rd person perspective, and to choose from between three levels of maneuverability. Co-pilots will get their own extra abilities.

The teams would like to release a public PC demo, but feel it would detract efforts from the main game as they work hard on completing the title. They assure fans that the private beta has worked out the kinks. It won't have Linux support, and that answer seemed set in stone.

The game looks cool but its releasing really close to crysis 2 and that's a tough market to be in. What makes and breaks battlefield style games is population so imo this game could either be huge and awesome or go completely unnoticed.

looks like a good game. It will be hard to compete though, isn't BF3 coming out this year also?

Riccitello says we can expect Battlefield 3 by the end of 2011, but it's not in EA release calender or confirmed by DICE.

EnterBF3 says Spring 2012.

are there any concrete indications that this wont be a crappy console port?
Yes, i am aware of the history of KAOS etc.
While I am looking forward to the game, i honestly expect a BF:BC2 product.

When a developer states : "interface tweaks for mouse-and-keyboard optimization" it looks pretty bad...... heres hoping its a worthwhile PC title! :p
