I am having an issue with my Xbox one S where I can tell when I am playing Minecraft Bedrock Edition, the utilization of CPU and GPU becomes so low. As a result, the loading times are slow, the general gameplay feels awkward, and lags when playing multiplayer. This is the same for most Consoles except the 2 popular 9th gen ones (Which run only a bit better). Is there a way to control the Xbox one hardware so it can work hard in every game?

Most consoles fail at cooling so if your system is throttling add custom cooling. It's been necessary since the days of PS3, but otherwise there are no options at all on a console to control the temp, you need cfw and a homebrew app to manually control a consoles fans.

I'm talking about the utilization of the Xbox CPU and GPU. Does cooling have anything to do with this??? Its issues on Minecraft are NOT like this with the other games. And its PC equivalent does significantly better.
Ignore the render distances.

What a strange post, you think because the console is not working hard the game is slower?

I will give benefit of doubt and assume poor English do you mean you feel the hardware is downclocking due to low load?

Oh Minecraft, if it's drawing more blocks than your console can handle it'll run like a turtle. I remember back in the day setting off chain reactions of rooms of dynamite with massive terrain destruction would drop the fps to 0 for over a minute while the game tried to catch up with my supreme idiocy, the results were nothing less than spectacular, giant chasms were created often down to the bedrock, good times.

For the first sentence yes. I'm starting to feel like this is because Mojang has a poor history with Consoles on bedrock edition. Let's just all get to the conclusion, Mojang has a negligent history with consoles, their poor optimization on those specific platforms, the refusal to add the One X and PC exclusive shader (Super Graphics Pack), and their refusal to add DXR to PS5 and Xbox Scarlett.

Surely it would really well if Mojang employees worked more than 30 minutes a day on coding actual features. So they can get time to listen to everybody.

And how do you measure CPU and GPU utilization on your Xbox?

Dust it out, and keep the room cool, contact microsoft and game devs

I try to check the heat while playing Minecraft. I can tell it's not working hard (warm enough to show) to give decent fps. You could also tell when you use an Xbox One's PC equivalent like the video I have given or weaker hardware (Proven by this complaint: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...e/f4a6f80a-f4bc-4b3d-9788-f2f49348ae06?auth=1) performing way better on that specific game than the Xbox One.

I have the first 2 checked out. But sadly, very similar issues have been addressed to Microsoft and the game devs by the players for years, and no progress has been done. For the bigger picture, they have a questionable history with optimization, shader support, mods on Xbox, and even the consoles themselves. However I will give it a go onto Mojang's Twitter and their support site to give them the chances I need.

PC equivalent? Minecraft (Java or Bedrock, it doesn't matter) is still single thread bound. This means it can use multiple threads, but the core gameplay/physics/etc thread is always the limiting factor. This means a fast CPU core is necessary for Minecraft performance.

The Xbox One CPU is a <2.0GHz AMD Jaguar (Bobcat) core. Bobcat is a failed competitor to the Intel Atom. Exact values are mostly a guess, but good faith efforts usually pin it as slower than any of the "Core" CPUs from Intel going back to the Core 2 Duo and slower than any of the Cortex A7x 64bit arm CPU cores (at least in IPC).

Jaguar was a slow CPU in 2013, even by AMD standards. 2013 was already the lowest point for AMD, with Bulldozer being such a massive performance failure that it launched a near decade of Intel dominance. Intel got away with launching quad core after quad core, since AMD's Bulldozer family was so slow, even with 8 cores, they could't keep up in any meaningful way again 4 Intel cores.

The Xbox One and PS4 got a CPU slower than Bulldozer.

Sure, Sure. But someone tested Minecraft on a 4GB Ram & AMD A6 Dual-Core processor. It was running way better on bedrock than the Xbox. And the Xbox GPU has been shown to do similar performance to the 750 Ti. It should be more than capable.

Not getting warm doesnt mean that the processors are being underutilized. Jaguar is a very efficient CPU arch, and on the xbone it's on a smaller process then any of the PC releases. Given minecraft is single threaded for the most part a single jaguar core will be a limitation AND not produce much heat.

That's a totally different platform. May as well compare the ios pocket edition while you're at it.

Also, no, that isnt the equivelant. A i5 3470 obliterates jaguar in single threaded performance.

Here's a better example of what the CPU in your xbox is capable of:

So, you're aware that minecraft on xbox has optimization issues and think someone at TPU has some magic spice that can fix software issues on a console game?

I am honestly confused on what you thought you'd find here.

The video you linked shows the use of an i5 3470, which is FAR from a comparable CPU to the jaguar powered xbox.

The video you showed is also someone playing Java on 4GB of ram. I played java with a 6GB ram laptop, Ram became heavily maxed out. Lots of lag. This is different from Xbox 8GB of ddr3 running bedrock. And when I meant optimization issues I meant all of the platforms that used bedrock I have heard complaints from all platforms speaking of Minecraft on Xbox has the incorrect optimization (Pocket edition optimization) and if you're talking "magic" explain how optifine increases fps way too much with software changes. For the last sentence, I was talking about this link https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...e/f4a6f80a-f4bc-4b3d-9788-f2f49348ae06?auth=1 I didn't give just 1 example of proof.

Minecraft is heavily CPU bound. Even though it can utilize multiple cores, its performance mainly depends on how fast a single thread is. Unfortunately, the custom Jaguar APU inside the Xbox One has very low single threaded performance. Its closest desktop equivalent is the Athlon 5150:

cpu_def.jpg

The Xbox has two such modules running at 1.75 GHz - you can add another 10% to these scores. It's an 8c/8t CPU effectively, but in most games you'll be limited by the single thread. The i5-3470 from your video has roughly 3.5x the single threaded performance, and even the slowest A6 APU is 50% faster here.

Yes, Minecraft is a badly optimized game. If you're not happy with how it performs on your console, you could play it on a PC. It will perform best with a current gen CPU. Try tweaking detail settings (especially render distance) and/or install speed-up mods for the Java edition.

I don't really play java edition because I rarely use my laptop. And I played with the setting on bedrock on Xbox and the fps is the same no matter how I change the settings and the resolution. This makes the optimization on Xbox MCBE extremely more F-ed up than it already is.

But the consoles still may be underutilized to some extent in MCBE. I heard of people complaining that a mobile phone performs better than the series x despite what the series x can do.

red herring argument. 4GB of ram is not going to be the issue on a jaguar based system. Notice that was a really old version of minecraft? It didnt really pull more then 512MB-1GB of RAM back then, had WAY less going on in terms of AI, and still ran like trash on jaguar.

So, the bedrock edition has optimization issues. Again, why are you asking for advice here? Seems to me you already know the answer: the console version doesnt run as well as the PC version, like 99% of games, and there is nothing you can do about it.
and if you're talking "magic" explain how optifine increases fps way too much with software changes.
Whataboutism argument. We are discussing the bedrock edition you are having issues with, optifine does not matter here. Again, you already know this yet insist on asking for help with a locked down console version.

Well it seems you have answered your own question here, if you want better performance you should run the PC version instead of a 8 year old budget console running a 12 year old netbook CPU.

Seriously, what is your argument here? What are you trying to learn, what do you want from us? Seems to me you just want to complain about xbox minecraft and refute all arguments telling you to either accept it or play on PC.

Well as seen as MS own the game and still making tons of money off it still and the XBox S being pretty old i would not count on them improving it for the older gen console even if there was\is performance to be gained.

And on top of that to even play our old MC game now we would have to get a MS account as i believe they shutting the old service down or some thing.

Theres nothing you can do then, its lack of code optimization

Let the kid dream airman, I'm still laughing at the super computer he's fapping over in the other thread. Kids don't need answers that say "not possible" they need questions if they don't get answers like that hopefully that urges them to go discover on their own, who knows in a few months maybe he's cracked his Xbox code and optimized the game himself.

I say age verification should be enacted.

That... that's not how it works at all.

The consoles have really, really weak CPU's compared to regular PC's.

The PS5 for example has a downclocked ryzen 4700s:
AMD Makes 4700S 'Zen 2' DIY Desktop Kit Official - Xbox Series X APU With 8 Cores at 4.0 GHz, 16 GB GDDR6 Memory (wccftech.com)

(The graph goes on quite a ways up, article is in german)

The consoles versions are going to be optimised for 30FPS gameplay, and would be lucky to use more than one CPU core. Nothing will ever change that or alter that.

Fine, you win, shame on me. PC Master Race I'm a console peasant boohoo. What else are you going to do? To put even more salt to my wounds I can shamelessly pull off my history of embarrassing myself on the other internet accounts I had a year ago if you asked, that's if only someone I had met that put salt on my flaws came here and recognized this account as my own. But at least I can stop myself from being ruined too much and getting banned due to my """experience"""". And Although too bad for me, I can't buy a GTX or RTX PC or a laptop due to their price. Don't have a desktop either to add a card to.

I'm skeptical about this but whatever. I'm not going to outright believe someone who just outright tells me on the internet. And this has already been lost in your favor so what?

You really are a Reddit kid we don't care about console Vs pc the majority of members here use both and understand the pros and cons of both platforms. The difference here being there tends to be a higher class of intellectual and if you provide false information you are warned or punished

Reddit kid here and there. But at least I don't actually use Reddit. And I've learned whatever mistakes I've learned from here and before. So good luck throwing an insult like that at me next time.

Get real, 4700S is a thing and your One S uses Jaguar CPU which architecture dates back to 2013.

By now One S is a 720p gaming console at best.
