Hi all,

This is work related. I would like to show an excel spreadsheet on a 50" TV next to my desk so my colleague can see it. However, that's the only thing/program I want to show on my screen. I want to be able to work on my laptop and the TV will only show the excel sheet.

I think I have seen streamers on twitch.tv done that and they will only show a certain program on screen.

Please help.

This should be quite simple, hopefully.

Does the laptop have a video connector? Hopefully HDMI. All modern TVs have a HDMI connector so a simple HDMI cable would be required if that's what's on it.

Just plug in the monitor into that port and configure Windows for two screens (set it to native resolution of the TV, most likely 1920x1080. Make sure it's not in clone mode. You can then drag the spreadsheet window onto the TV as the second screen.

Please give us the make and model of the laptop and the OS version installed on it so we can help you better.

Thanks, what if I want some sort of "screensaver" what can jump from one excel workbook to another in a set interval on the TV?

Screensaver? Where were you asking for a screen saver? You need to configure two screens on the laptop to show a spreadsheet on one and other stuff on the other.

For a second time, do you have the make and model of it?

Ah no. Your solution was good. I just had second thoughts and wonder if it can be something more dynamic than just showing 1 workbook. I guess I'm looking for the program that can rotate multiple workbooks and show it on screen.

Regarding laptop, the company is buying one with HDMI so that's covered

for anyone that follow this thread, i found a ghetto work around: powerpoint and google excel. i can insert google excel pages into powerpoint using liveweb add in and have it run by itself.

Yeah, I read your post yesterday and came in here to post exactly that, powerpoint. It does require a bit more work in order to get it all ready to present, but far more "professional". You might also want to grab yourself a remote so you can click through the pages of the presentation.

Hi all,

I run into an issue:
When I hook up the TV and set the setting to "extend displays" and set the TV to primary monitor, when I start the presentation, only the laptop screen would show the presentation.

When I change the setting to "duplicate displays", the TV would show the presentation when I start it on the laptop. BUT THIS IS NOT WHAT I WANT. I want to be able to work independently while having the presentation run on the TV.

Is this problem due the machine being the Laptop? (may be the laptop have some default setting that lock the presentation to the laptop screen). If I get a cpu tower would it work the way I want?
