How do I print wirelessly with my wireless router + multiple computers?

Hello all!

I have several computers hooked up to my Nighthawk R7000 with wifi. The wifi works perfectly but I'm having some issues with getting them all to print wirelessly.

I connected my (non-wireless) printer to the router via USB and installed the Readyshare Print software. It installed perfectly on all the computers, the printer is recognized and able to connect, and all the computers can print wirelessly when connected to it.

However, it only stays connected to one computer at a time. If I want to print from another computer, the last computer I printed from has to authorize me via Readyshare Print to connect to it and then it will print.

How do I enable all the computers to be connected to the printer at the same time? Without needing to authorize/allow them every time I switch computers? I want to be able to just hit print from any computer and have it print seamlessly.

Is there another method besides using Readyshare?

You basically can't, AFAIK. Because of the way Readyshare works, it doesn't communicate between the different computers, so if two computers try to send a print job to the printer at the same time, they conflict. So it is designed so only one computer has control and ability to print at a time, and the Readyshare program has to ask to take control before it can print.

If you have a desktop, or laptop that never moves, you can just connect the printer to that computer and share it over the network. Then all the computers can connect to the printer and print freely. The computer the printer is connected to will manage the print queue and make sure everything prints.

thats why there is a setting called "monopoly mode", it gives exclusive control to a specific device in your network, im not certain if Netgear has that function, but asus does, and im pretty sure you wouldnt want print jobs all coming in at once from multiple devices.

frankly IMO, printer technology is shit, compared to other devices in the tech field....its always seemed to be leaps and bounds behind PC's for example, or Cell phones, etc..

It isn't that bad if you just buy a proper networked printer. But if you try to network an archaic printer that isn't supposed to be, it's a hassle.

This is why I only buy network printers. Just plug in a network cable or connect them to the WiFi, and then I can install them directly on every computer. No special software, no printer server computer running all the time. Plus, if it is an All-In-One printer, like my Brother, then I can scan over the network with any of my computers as well. Again, with nothing special to install other than the Brother driver.

I'm using a DGND3700V2 with my Brother MFC-495CW Hooked up via USB. I'm using Readyshare on my Wife's rig and my rig. We are hooked up via Ethernet but Ive used it on my Laptop in a different room before. I just ensure I have the proper Drivers installed across the machines.

I'd read your manual if I were you, last but not least call netgear as they are the ones who made this capability.
