I connected my pc to my Samsung smart tv via an hdmi cable. When I play a video on pc the sound comes from pc speakers however I would like to hear sound from speakers on my Samsung tv not my pc speakers. I went to sound setting in my control panel but I cant figure it out.

look at TV sound settings, there should be options called Audio and there audio source, tv, hdmi or other depends on manufacturer.

How are the PC speakers connected? Have you tried disconnecting them?

It sounds to me (no pun intended) like your PC is routing sound to your PC speakers and not to your TV. That would not be a TV setting but a sound setting in Control Panel.

you need to go into y our sound setting in your pc and choose HDMI as default sound.

What is your GPU? You can simply go into that control panel and set the sound output to happen via HDMI.

Type "sound" into the start menu search bar. Under the "control panel" section of the search results, click on "sound." In the "playback" section of this new menu, you can right-click on your TV or whatever HDMI connection you have, and you can change that to your default device.

if You have a GPU and it has HDMI, use That to run from PC to TV, that way the GPU will use its audio , and it will have to route through the TV, then when You change the TV source from HDMI 1 (PC) to HDMI 2 (TV) the TV will handle all of the audio itself, and the PC will only output audio from that HDMI cable when Your using GPU audio, so it would be impossible to have sound coming out of the PC speakers after doing this.

it sounds to me like You have onboard audio running using 3.5 jacks , or whatever your motherboard has for audio output, using the GPU will remove the option for that extra level of complication.

EASY:

1. press Window button on keyboard
2.Start typing "sound"

Done.

I toked the liberty of providing screen shots ,cuz back 2 years ago when i got my TV it toked me some time to figure it out. And it's so simple, yet i understand the struggle

... or simply right click on speaker icon in the tray bar, choose "Playback Devices" and choose HDMI output
