Okay, well, I recently just moved into a new apartment. I didn't think dust was going to be an issue, as it has just been remodeled, re-painted, and there was literally nothing here when we moved in. Well, I know that I can just buy a can of air a week and clean the computer, but is there an easier way? For instance, are there any machines that can keep the dust out of the air?

It's not terrible, just an annoyance that I would pay to solve. And the reason I put this in this forum is, well, because everytime I clean my whole computer out, the 8800gt runs at 44 instead of 52, and the e6750(oced) runs at 21-23 instead of 30-32.

Thanks TPU,

yeah i don't know if your in the us but you could get an ionic breeze from sharper image, they keep the air super clean i smoke probably a pack of smokes a day in my 12x12 room and the room smells like a doctors office and there is no dust in the air, good if you have kids as well

Thanks, this is the type of stuff I'm looking for.

If anyone else has any input on the above model, or anything else for that matter, I would appreciate it greatly.

Note - the room my computer is in has dimensions of 12x14, just to give an idea.

fan filters??:slap:
Check here, Some swear lady's old pantyhose works good.

Yes, and I have filters, but the filters themselves collect dust, thereby rendering the fans a lot less useful.

Filters prevent the dust from getting inside the case, which is nice...but it still clogs up the airflow. To be honest, I'd really prefer the room just to be more dust-free, the computer is just the priority.

Dude I know what you mean man, we have been cleaning our house today and I have been in a constant battle with dust.

Every Time I wipe my desktop down, it just reapears, I really hate the stuff, same thing goes for when its inside my desktop.:banghead:

You could consider water cooling your computer, that way there won't be any fans to pull in the dust.

or if you don't want to water cool your pc you could get some air sanitizer I got some and that stuff help eliminate dust.

Good Luck with your dust battle, its a pain in the ass.

make your computer room a vacuum ...lol and have a breathing apparatus in it so u can breath

That would be so freakin clean lol.

Clean in both ways, clean as in kool and clean as in clean lol.

Sorry that was a bad joke....

If your talking about the overall amount of dust in your place then also look into higher quality furnace filters and replacing them often.

a trick i used to use to "clean" the air from dust is get a sheer see thru curtain and wet it so its damp then lay it over the fan to cover the entire front of fan (just 1 layer), turn fan on low speed and after a few hours just remove the material and rinse it out. twice a day at first should do it then once or twice a day for the rest of the week or untill you see no more dust. if the carpet is new give it a wetvac treatment to remove all the loose fibers. its the same principle as a filter on your pc fan.

brand new places have more dust and flying particles in the air because it hasnt all had time to get shaken loose and vaccumed up.

also replacing the house a/c filter with the pleeted fiber type will catch a lot more dust but it will slow down the airflow so its not the best to use in the summertime unless you have a well designed air duct system.

shear curtain, good idea. I hate wasting a half a can of air trying to clean my fans.

i dont think there is a practical answer.. filters on the case destroy the airflow and assuming the room is dusty block up near instantly..

less fans in the case.. or at least no more than u need. more passive cooling.. blow your case out on a regular basis..

good fan control with fans going slow while browsing helps.. the less air thru the case the less dust gets carried in..
