My friend's computer parts are coming tomorrow for me to assemble, pretty much everything will arrive tomorrow except his 3850 and his sound card, which won't be here till friday unfortunately. Being the impatient man he is, me as well I guess and sympathizing, I'm installing my spare 8600GT till his card arrives. When it gets here though, what is the proper way of disposing of the nVidia drivers before I install his 3850?

use the free version of driver cleaner free...I'll see if I can find it. You uninstall the drivers first, reboot, run driver cleaner, reboot...you're done.

Great tip Paulieg, but i just had a rough go with nvidia drivers on my 975X mobo. I actually had to go this route and eliminate the residual tags myself in both the prefetch and system32 folders. Was a PITA lets hope the DriverCleaner works out for him.

Running the uninstaller found in add/remove programs should do the proper job. But to make sure every thing is removed, run the driver cleaner.

What was in your system32 folders? I ask, because what I usually do is delete everything manually (registry, windows folder, etc).

Well it was easy for me to see because of my Intel chipset. So I could easily erase anything that started in NV.... Did also have the same issue with my lady's pc tho with ATI drivers on a Nvidia Nf4. this was also easier.

If you have ATI/ATI chipset or Nvidia/Nvidia chiset, I found when I had a questionable file I just googled the file name and was told exactly what it was for, therefor I didn't erase anything Vital!
