This entire thread is the essence of a facepalm.

Why is that? The OP is just disabling Defender without deleting any files. This is just a less destructive method of what I do. I think it's cool. Still going to do it my way by deleting the folders/files. Using the above method is reversible, mine isn't.

For the record, Norton is always the problem.

i can upload a version to clean windows new-install. he made a fantastic work. but this was dedicated for graphiccard issues.
i deleted some lines e.g. remote things or the systemname....

i upload it as a textfile so every1 can look into it by their own

when ure the first time after install on the desk. just activate the adminsitrator account and execute it then. he had everything inside u just want to delete and never see it again

i wrote it in the first lines: it makes no sense having two scanners. and i just made it easy. not every1 had studied IT

Nearly all of the settings in there are not specific to graphics cards. I still don't want people to blindly paste them into their system, so the content is worded the way it is. Plenty of comments in there, so you can pick out the stuff you really want.

thats what i did. and thats the reason its so helpful! its a perfect frame to do what ever is needed to get the right result

and as far as i could see nothing is related to a GPU

something comes to my mind:
can you maybe write a sequence that prevents MSpaint from being deleted? because that would be quite handy if it stayed because MS only offers paint 3D now. and this it for me in some cases a bread and butter program

or just a hint where i can find it to do myself.

i made it! it took me 1,5 hours... (to find the right paths in the web. but those research issues are my favorites)

it is not the beta. its the considered send-out version.
well if u had read all posts and an idea of the meaning you would consider, that the Defender is not off-switchable anymore. in this case thousands of tester are locked out.
this program is just a stockpile of *sht. slows the os , permanent scanning. cannot offswitch, more than 130 single rules to manage (pro only) telemetry until the center of the holy city of BAGDAD, no stable virus database (knowledge) instead u stay "indefected" and the virus will sent to M$ instead... ...enough? or shall i go on?

in my opinion, don't take it personally, people use this "program" because they simply don't have a clue. they think they are protected because a huge device that cannot be configured scans everything that is not nailed down, but in reality is simply a fake.
whoever -defends- this program in a serious way, i have to deny him technical competence and demote him to a bloody beginner.
not even my 60 year old mother relies on this garbage. because otherwise she would not be allowed to work with her PC because of the insurance protection.

cant tell you the number of time ive found a old persons computer loaded with viruses and antiviruses all one big slow mess
If you know computers and are a techy then the best thing is commen sence it will beat damn near any antivurs all of the time
and if your douting youself Run it through Virus total

its got to the point where if i see some of those *mcafee* on a system i TREAT it as a virus

and until i uninstalled it the cpu was contsantly pinned at 100% by noroton
