How to transfer saved games on steam from one pc to another?

Is this even possible so I don't have to play the game all over again on my new pc?

Your save data is syncd in the cloud isnt it? If not, find the folder for save games and manually copy transfer them, it would take a while, but im not sure what other choices there are

This is why my steam is installed on a non OS drive. Makes life easier cuz you can just plug it in

Simply find the save location and manually transfer if Steam Cloud isn't supported as stated above. You can Google the game and ass "save folder" to the end and get a location.

From there you could make a shortcut to that folder and copy the saved games to Google Drive so you have cloud access to that save. Its easy enough to do for a game you're really into and playing on multiple systems. Kinda bulky otherwise...which is why Steam Cloud has been so useful...except for Homeworld Remastered. It copies saves and settings without any options to just sync saves. Sucks if your second PC or laptop is far weaker than your primary one for instance.

Hopefully you have enough info to resolve your inquiries.

Ok so games like F4, AC Syndicate, Division etc. do they all support Steam cloud so I don't have to copy my saves manually. Just install game on a new pc and continue playing? Edit: I read that S cloud has limited GB so wouldn't it be safer to just copy paste my entire Save folder to Usb key and then copy it to my new pc. Would this always work with all major games?

It should be a law that all local games are saved in a folder named "saved" under the game folder. Everything else is stupid.

Most games have cloud syncing. Those that don't, you'll have to manually transfer saves.

C:\Users profile folder (check both, Local and Roaming)
Saved Games folder
My Documents (with My Games)
Some games store saves within game data folder

Actually, I've prefer all be saved under "My Games" in the Documents folder. After all, the Documents folder is probably the most likely folder to get backed up.

Yes, this method works for any games. Once you reinstall the game on new pc, copy the save location folder from the old pc to the new one. Works like a charm.

I usually copy all that stuff to a storage drive, and then install the storage drive on the new pc after it is running windows.

Games that are synced to Steam Cloud shouldn't need to be backed up. Right click on the game in the library, Properties, Updates tab, and if it uses Steam Cloud, you should see the amount of data stored on the cloud at the bottom of this tab.

Ubisoft/uPlay: C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames

When I upgraded computers, I went through (if you're using a limited user account, make sure to check the limited user and the administrator for games that run with elevated rights):
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming
C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents
C:\Users\USERNAME\Saved Games
C:\ProgramData
...and zipped up everything that looked remotely like I'd want to save it. I still have the zip sitting on my desktop and it weighs in at 1.4 GB. I did take some stuff out of it. Come to think of it, I should probably burn it.

Games like CONSORTIUM keep their saves in the game's install directory. Those are a massive pain to back up.

The Microsoft standard is to place all application data in AppData.

It should be a law that all local games are saved in a folder named "saved" under the game folder. Everything else is stupid.
Except when there are multiple users playing the game and data gets overwritten. The above (AppData) fixes that.

I sync to the cloud and have 2 separate 2tb hdd's for game drives. I can move the drives to what ever pc I want and not lose a thing.

Just sign in on the new PC, n down load it.

Depends on game, typical places are in Documents or Documents\ my games folder, although you may find some in C:\Users\Your User Account\AppData and with in one or more folder in there.
