HP dv 6000 Ram upgrade problem

I bouth new ram for my laptop HP dv 6000 (6835er). Currently there is 512mbx2 5300.
When i put 1gbx2 6400 laptop don't want to start.
When i install only 1gb 6400 or 1gb (6400) + 512 mb (5300) it's work fine.
How i can make to work 2gb 6400?
Maybe i should try to update bios?

try using the sticks of RAM seperately to make sure you didnt get a DOA stick(it is possible)

your problem is that the computer cannot run the 6400 ram at those speeds. when you add one stick of 6400 and a stick of 5300, it runs both @ 5300 speeds cause it goes with the lowest speed ram inserted. you should sale the 2x1gb 6400 sticks and but 2x1gb 5300 sticks or just one 2gb 5300 stick

actually, if that's the case, I wonder if he has the option in bios to down-clock the 6400 RAM to 5300 speeds.

i have allready try it. Seperately they work fine.

yes, i think about this too. But! As i say when I install one stick of 6400 - it's work fine.

i forgot to look what the speed was with one 6400. Later i will look at it by CPU-Z.
Also, if there is no other ideas i'll try to update bios. But it's risky.

well it may be as Brandon suggested and your comp won't run mememory at 6400 speeds.
