Well I decided to go ahead and install the 32bit version of the standard vista server.

I have hit one problem. It seems that my wireless USB device does not like this O/s. It worked on ultimate so Hmmmm.

Anyhow I installed a temp LAN wire across the house for now LOL. Fixing to install my X-fi and get it working(If I can)

I do have my x800 installed with 7.4 no problems I have even turned on Aero now that was a work around to get it go come on, but it will be easier now that I know what I have to do.

Oh and this O/s only eats up 500 megs with Aero installed(sorry forgot to look with it off) it seems to run better tho(over Vista ultimate) I give it that.

I had to go with firefox because IE just doesn't work hardy at all. Things like Active X(The pop up didn't come down) Also things like drop down boxes like quick links/todays post on the TPU.

I messed with the IE options and it still wouldn't give me the active X drop down. But I didn't try to just turn it open to everything and see what it does. F that I hate Active X in the first place no way I would just let it run open.

Just to run it and see if I liked it. And from this point but with a few bumps I do like it. I think I will install the 64bit ver as a main O/s in the coming days.

My X-Fi installed now I'm downloading the work around CD software.

I have 32 bit Vista and 32 bit XP Pro
I should have got 64 bit vista :(
I could have used 4 gigs of ram

Well this ver of Vista seems to run better. But I havent ran Vista from the last RC ver release.

Slightly off topic, though how is it compared to Vista? And 2003? Does it look clean and "basic"? ie as win2k3 user, should I bother to take a look at it?

Its very clean like 2003 but it has and can have all the extras that Vista has . You should take a look at this dan.

I did read that this O/s does not have DX10 on it but I don't have a DX10 card nor a DX10 game.

I might give it a shot then. Install it on some spare drive. I guess installing DX10 shouldn't be too much trouble.

I might try it out too, but a stripped ver of vista by vlite is better in ram consumption and the choice for removing custom features imo :)
btw are you guys talking about the Beta3 or the final ?

Beta 3

Build 6001

thx, it must be written in the iso's name that I ignored lol..
The final should be wayyy polished, I don't trust beta server os :p The final varnished product is always satisfying :)

btw,is it true that you're getting 500mb ram consumption
I'm getting 479mb with av installed, firefox running in the back, and with default settings in my Vista Home premium :wtf: how come  I thought server os didn't have that much bloat :p

Hmmm well its at 513 right now with Firefox running. When I had ultimate it ran around 800.

800mb  woah, that's high...
It varies system to system I guess
That means I'll get around 270 to 300mb yay! :D
OMG if vlite is used with longhorn, the result will be w00t! :D :rockout:

why would you run longhorn? I wouldnt even consider what is out even a beta version...

maybe a beta beta version =)

Is the Aero theme different than Vista? Screenshots plz :)

Its the same with it turned on. It comes with it not installed at all and with the service turned off as well.
