I have a wireless card that I use to connect to our router. But When i got home today my card won't connect to my linksys Router instead it connects to this wicked weak signal so now it's like i'm using Dial-up. I think the problem is that there are two routers w/ the SSID name lynksis. I can't change the name of either router. I need help could anyone tell me what to do?

I tried to connect to the other router. But it keeps connecting me to the weak one. Is there just a way to block the weak one?

So your saying there is a router with same SSID near you as in next door or something?

I would log into your router and change SSID and wireless channel so that they dont interfere with each other and put some security on!

Neither routers are mine. I sap off my neighbor. So i can't change that. But Linksys routers all come w/ the SSID default name Linksys. This is where my problem is coming from. Someone else in my neighborhood got a linksys router so my wireless card is going to the weaker signal for some reason. I just need to know if there's a way ot block the weak one.

No lol, the OWNER of the router decides if he wants to broadcast SSID, you should thank your lucky stars they have no security LMAO

You could log into the router OF YOUR CHOICE and change the wireless channel and that may improove your speed

Well login to it and decrease the wireless strength to 50% or something, then you wont see it!

Can you not just force a disconnect in windows then connect to the stronger, then it should in theory connect to the same 1 next time!

It would be funny if he decreases signal strength and the other has security then no leaching lol

I think they both dont have security though

Ok, I dont condone what you are doing, but if the owner of the router is thick enough to not put security on then its fair enough lol

This is why I have WPA and I have only my mac addresses enabled to access! Secure as fook :)

That's a good idea. I'll mention it to him sometime.
