I need to reset my BIOS but I don't know how

The problem is AsRock 980 chipset board with 0 BIOS support combined with FX chip.
Try a k10 chip in there.
Your friend may be right about a BIOS flash helping..
..and it should:

Download latest BIOS
or..
simpler: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BIOS-CHIP-A...ther_Computing_Networking&hash=item27ceedee1b

I've bought about 5 from these people: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BIOS-Chip-A...US_Motherboard_Components&hash=item3cc7e78c30

Buy that and jam it in there.Make sure the notch is going the correct way.

Can you recommend me the most suitable motherboard that would best suite this build? Or another chipset other than k10. Thanks very much for your quick response.

Most 970 chipset boards do run fx cpus, just oc is limited.

If you need help flashing a bios take it to a local pc shop and have them do it. Be sure to take your motherboard manual.

order a BIOS chip..cheapest solution.

He wouldnt know how to swap it properly.

It's only 6 pins

I tried to flash my BIOS once, with the help from the manual. But sadly it didnt work...so I changed my cmos battery also, and that didn't work either(idk if that last part was necessary or was going to help, but I had to try ever option I had

Instead of flashing..you can remove a chip and plug a new one in.

thats for a 970/U3S3 not a 980/U3S3 are completely different boards :banghead:
you don't know what you are talking about and you need to stop offering advice

he needs to take it to a shop this board should have shipped with a supporting bios for the majority of vishera chips at minimum it should be posting the mico-code between late and early model visher chips is compatible enough for a post

Read through the entire thread and here's my suggestion. Return that piece of turd psu back to where you bought it and get one from some reputable brand like Seasonic, Corsair, Chieftec or other brand that's been around for years. Or borrow a spare psu from your friends for testing purposes, i'm 100% sure it's the psu problem and as far as i know fx series cpu's are notoriously power hungry.
Just my 5 cents.
Cheiftec??????????????????? No. Unless they have improved from being only certified as a firehazard Cheiftec should not be on the list. Last I recall they are still like other firehazards named Powmax and old Rosewills.

oops..correct chip link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BIOS-CHIP-A...ther_Computing_Networking&hash=item27ceedee1b

You should state the model # of board if you order.

I would try a BIOS chip before anything else.

BIOS chip=$15

Take to a shop=$60

In fact,if a BIOS chip doesn't work, the board is probably DOA.

Like I said,I've ordered 5 BIOS chips with success every single time.
whoops..that's wrong..nothing worked on some p55 Maximus.

Pc shops have proper testing eq, even additional parts

Pc shops rip people off.

Pc shops rip people off.
1. that`s a generalization and terrible one
2. the op is clearly not capable of fixing the problem him self
3. at this stage I doubt the bios revision currently installed on board is at fault
4. it would take any reputable pc shop about 15m to post the board with another proc and update the bios
./requesting lock thread has run its course` op knows what he needs todo

Why would you request to lock someone else's thread?
PS: It's "course"

this thread is now at 3 pages are going absolutely no-ware

OneMoar hit it right on the head, the guy proved he cannot fully understand what to do and he whined about the k10 chipset when he couldnt make it work. I provided links to reputable motherboards, he has a very lowly model.

Ive seen those with 970 Extreme 3/4 run 8350s but they are limited in the oc dept but running stock or a minor oc they do fine.

and its not that swaping the bios chip would't fix it if thats even the problem
and that`s just my point he doesn't understand enough for us to help him fix it he needs to take it to a shop and stop throwing parts at it at random
at this stage even if he gets it working all hes gonna end up with is a mediocre system

Agreed as I said in a past post here. The person rarely gets on even probably wants to give up totally too.

I'm not saying I would buy an AsRock anything for AMD..but masterplox already has..
He may not have more money to just plunk down for a proper Crosshair V or TA990FXE.
I would at least try a BIOS chip 1st.
I think his friend may have bricked his board...to where it wouldn't boot with anything now.
