I7 cpu new build is it running wrong

first off hello im new to the forum

i built my self an I7 cpu system and although i cant put my finger on one thing i think it may be running slow ,first i will give you as much detail as possible
I7 cpu 920 @2.66
gigabyte GAEX58UDR3 mobo
xfxHD4870 750m 1gb DDR5 graphics card
3 x2 gig OCZ DDR3 pc3-10666c9 gold low voltage triple ram(fitted in the slot 1,2,3 on mobo)
640g samsung spinpointF1 sata 2 16mb cache drive new(598gig free)
320g sata 2 HD from my old pc full of Hidef movies (13gig free space)
antec 300 ultimate game case with 2 case fans top and back +120mm front case fan added
OCZmodxstream pro 600w silent sli readt atx2 power supply
akasa ak 967 nero direct heatpipe cpu cooler
windows vista 64 bit sp1
lite on dvdrom/rw from my old pc

i did the vista test and everything comes out at 5.9

but at times yesterdy it seemed slow and unresponsive

transfering files from dvd back ups to the new pc took for ever,and although i cant put my finger on it ,it just wasnt the speed jump i was expecting from and upgrade from my athlon xp 2.2 with 1gig ram

do i need to alter anything in the mob, or is there any software that can run tests and check everything is set up and running ok

again as a newbie thanks for any help you can offer

Try running 3dmark vantage its more i7 friendly.

Well if it says there a "common system" with equal specs as you have gets hardly more points than you, then I'm guessing no; it ain't running wrong. At stock that is.

uhhh i7s have no problem with 06 , but vantage loves them more for sure.

some screen shots of some test stuff it it helps, also while im on with the spec i have is it able to be overclocked by me who has no OC experince at all

It does not. The new i7 975 kicked it's preverbial butt and the word is out that the shipping version will be faster yet.
