Improved moderation

I'm glad to say this forum software has enabled an improvement in moderation.

Previously when a comment was deleted, it just disappeared with no hint of its previous existence or explanation, which could be quite frustrating.

Now, I've just had several of my posts deleted, but I got an alert, along with a brief reason for each one. I still can't see my comments, but at least I have an idea which ones they were and why, which I think is a nice improvement.

This was done as part of a thread cleanup where I can see that some other unprovoked personal attacks towards me from the usual suspects were also removed, so I'm glad to see this.

LoL. Felt persecuted by me? You need to lighten up. They were not personal attacks. We do not agree on many things... that's the beauty of life, that not everything is the same. I do not understand, so I posed a question to you, and you feel that is a personal attack?

Those posts that were removed also gave a reason for removal... because they were off topic. Not because they were "personal attacks". ROFL. You were also off topic. Hence the removal of those posts.

Yet I 1000% agree the notification is a nice touch.

Now the question I have is: If those posts are removed, are the thanks given on those posts also removed?

Think your find when posts are Removed ( for what ever reason ) the thanks are also removed and totals adjusted
A suitable mod will be along to confirm/deny/delete this post as irrelevant

I'm merely addressing your post in the OP. This is an open forum. I can post in response to the OP just like any other member. You are more than welcome, as is anyone, to report a post for moderation. The moderators will decide what's OK or not, and we all have to accept their choices.

The notification gives you a chance to respond to the removal, if so desired. That opens a bit of conversation about the issue, and that's good. But the notifications do not tell you which moderator took action, which might make trying to contact the right person a bit difficult. So usually a mod will post in the thread to say they have taken action. They might not need to do that if the notification had more information.

So while the new bit of information is nice, it seems a bit incomplete.

I got a post deleted in that thread and an alert but it was off topic about the 970 court case. I think the moderators are getting annoyed with so much off topic posting and the squabbling that breaks out on some threads.

Yes, that's correct. I've seen forum software that can't manage this which is quite the facepalmer, lol.

@cadaveca I'll debate it with you in pm if you wanna talk about it even though I'm pretty hacked off with you, but no more posts here, please. Agreed it would be better if it listed the moderator too. I suspect the mods would rather keep it anonymous as it make their lives easier though. I dunno if the forum software even supports showing the moderator.

I'm sorry you don't like me, but the obvious answer is to set me on ignore and you won't have to see my posts any more. Open thread on the forum is open to everyone. You can't exactly tell someone to get lost because you don't like their point of view.

You may also wish to note that should you get informed of a deletion and/or why it was deleted is not because of the forum change but because the moderator doing it chose to inform you.
