Replaced my aging Asus 24" 1920x1200 monitor with an LG 25UM58-P 25" 2560x1080 IPS Ultrawide.

After about 8 hours of work and 8 hours of play I have to say that I'm quite happy with this purchase. A single monitor can provide both a productive workspace and good gaming experience for only $180 USD.

This model supports 75Hz though the few games I've tried so far are capped at 60fps. Will have to try more games before commenting on that part. What I can see -- the colors and quality -- are nice upgrades from what I'm use to thanks to the IPS panel.

My old 24" with 2" bezels was a hulking beast so a slim 25" ultrawide seemed small at first but in short time I've adjusted and feel that it provided a real benefit.

...That's not to say that I wouldn't mind a 29" version. In fact, the wife is already angling to get this one by getting me a new one :D

Hi mate, I felt the same when I upgraded my cheap 27inch TN Benq to an overkill Acer 34inch IPS 100hz with gsync. The gaming experience between those is worlds apart, I don't think I could ever go back to a normal monitor. :D

Input switching has improved for me. On the Asus you had to cycle slowly through all 3 inputs even if you only had 2 connected. The LG is not perfect though. With only 2 inputs (both HDMI) I would have greatly appreciated a 1-click method to switch between them. However, I've gotten fairly quick at switching because using the 5-way stick interface is a great experience. I'd have to think back all the way to analog CRTs to remember the same having the level of control and simplicity from monitor controls.

One of the inputs is occupied by my work-issued laptop which has a 1920x1080 screen. No issues using a mini-DP to HDMI cable for an overall 4480 x 1080 workspace powered by Intel HD 5500.

Something that's become a tradition is playing GTA Vice City every time I got a new monitor or video card. With WSGF Widescreen Fix it's looking great and can be experience in a new way for like the 6 or 7th time.

Also on the replay short-list is Fallout 4. I played it through upon released and then stopped to let the DLC collect and get patched. Time to see if the Season Pass was worth it...

I guess that would be good for 2.39:1 movies, but it would still have square pixels....
