Installed a new SSD when starting up it crashes at 100% disk usage (Failed)

I have to agree with the previous posts, Take it to a professional.

If you're trying to install windows 10 you do realize the screen turns purple for a while iirc but it seems like you may have some other stuff going on as well. If you allowed it to load for over 15 minutes and see no progress take it to a professional

If a professional is not available try the installation on a different hard drive or solid-state drive

Might just blow the idea of having a ssd

Did you buy it new? If so you can likely return it or even if it was a refurbished unit. If you're stuck with it you may be able to use it after you get the OS installed on another drive

Good luck

Watch out upgrading firmware. We bricked one at work with the latest firmware but looks like samsung may have fixed it but be cautious.

Well we have exhausted what we can do here without physically being there to do it for you. take the machine to a PC shop, they will be able to explain what you were doing wrong in the first place.

Better Luck Next Time

Bump what? We can't take it to a shop for you...we are 60 posts in on how to install windows properly...you need more help than free advice on the Internet is going to provide I'm afraid...

This smells like a sew/litwicki24 thread....lol

Dude you are doing something Illegal. I feel it. Take your rig to a pc shop, or call Dell/Alienware, Microsoft and Samsung for help. We can't hold your hand through all of this.

Just out of curiosity, what would he be doing here that's illegal? o_O

Though, this is behaving like either a dead, or security locked Samsung drive. I guess it could be stolen. But I like to presume innocence. Anyways, if it is, we can't help anyhow.

Unless I'm mistaken I think he's referencing the possibility of pirate activity

Although that's as easy as legally installing

I would use the WIndows 10 Install disk to format the new SSD drive and only format. DO NOT DO A FAST FORMAT! Then I would put the old drive back in and clone the old drive to the New SSD Drive. Then DO NOT USE THE SSD AT ALL UNTIL IT IS INSTALLED ON THE LAPTOP AS THE C DRIVE. Then make sure that is the only drive that is installed on the laptop is the SSD drive until your loaded into Windows! I think this will resolve the issue but if doesn't then I think maybe you have a faulty new SSD drive.

I'm pretty sure a format isn't going to do anything at this point.

He either has a faulty SSD, or a security locked one. It's acting like it can't even create a partition table.

Kind of does but the OP stated he did get the SSD cloned from the old drive in the start of this thread.

Strikes me as simply being a dead SSD then. It did all it could, it will only get worse from here.

It's not stolen I recently git it for a Christmas present brand new. I fixed the installation but how stuck on select the driver to install Windows setup screen it comes up automatically when I hit and so now I just want to know which drivers I need install for to get it working

And I used diskpart to clean the disk and reinitilize it.

See

Hey my man, after you post a comment towards the bottom of it you'll see a button called "edit ",use that instead of posting on top of posting on top of posting .you begin to bury your own comments and it gets a little annoying trying to read through two or three or four posts from the same person back to back

That way if you have new information you can just click the edit link and add that information and all three posts would be in one single post which is significantly easier to read

Not bitching or nothing just pointing it out so please don't take it the wrong way

Also if you've got this brand-new then return it! Why would you spend hours and hours fighting it? :shadedshu:It's got to be something wrong with if it worked fine before it and work fine without it just saying

Ok and my HDD crashed twice just las night blue screens etc if you know the drivers I need that would be great

if you know the drivers I need that would be great

The Drivers you need is the one that takes you and your Laptop into town to the PC shop for A proper Technician to install this Drive
Instructions have been given on how to install an O/S
either your not following them correctly or your laptop/media has other problems
A Repair Tech will sort this out for you FASTER than waiting for replies from the WEB and your ABILITY TO SORT THE PROBLEM OUT YOURSELF

Look at your model number of your laptop. You shouldn't need a driver with Win 10 on that older laptop.

If I were you get it to a shop for proper installation, maybe you will learn from them on what not to do the next time. If they say the drive is bad. Return it to the store for an exchange.

I'm 90% certain at this point that the drive is defective.

But if you need 100% certainty, yeah, take it to a tech.

If the installation is requesting a driver I think its looking for a Raid driver but you are only going to be using the SSD so you WILL NOT NEED THE RAID DRIVER. A screen shot or picture of the screen asking for a driver would be helpful tho in order to know for sure if this is the issue.

EDIT: just seen the screenie and I'm stumped on why it is looking for that driver. I agree with R-T-B that the issue is with the SSD drive its self and would take it back for a replacement.

I think he gave up
