Installing Infinity Quiet CPU Cooler

Hi all, quick question. I just ordered my c2d retail and a scythe Infinity Quiet CPU Cooler to go with it. When I install it would you recommend that i remove the thermal paste that is already on the CPU and use the paste supplied by sycthe? If the thermal paste already on the chip is sufficient I would much rather take the easy option! Any advice greatly appreciated! Cheers

IDK what kind of thermal paste is preapplied on c2d processors (is there any at all? :confused:

), but i would NOT recommend using the white silicone crap that comes with the infinity... get some decent quality paste like Arctic Silver 5 or AC MX-1...

also, follow the instructions in this thread, first post.

There won't be any paste on the processor, it will be on the heatsink that comes with the processor.

So you have to use whatever comes with the Scythe, or buy something better as somone has already suggested.

Yea third party CPU coolers do not have Thermal Paste pre-applied like the stock heatsinks do.
They usually have a small tube for you, but that is usually not good stuff.
Go get some Artic Silver at your local computer store (should be around $5).

infinitys dont come with tim on the base, its a sachet, and yes its crap silicone stuff, use mx 1 or as 5
