Intel Arc A750 & A770 Unboxing & Preview

Wonder about power consumption. If I remember correctly the 6600xt, 6650, and 3060 are all mostly found as a single 8 pin where the 770 is asking for 8 +6

The information on the Intel Insiders Discord is that the maximum board power for A770 is 228 watts and currently cannot be raised in Arc Control. So I'd expect it to be pretty much in line with an RTX 3060 Ti's. The ASUS TUF 3060 Ti (1x 8-pin design) has a 216W power limit, for example.
 
Interesting, so who all are making these? Acer, Asrock, Dell, HP, Lenovo et al? I'm guessing ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte will also be there!
 
wait so will partners also make A770 16gb versions?
I think the cooler looks cool but im not sure if my universal waterblock will fit
 
If Intel bundle A750 together with 13900K I might be willing to beta test it :D

It would be fun ask w1z to include old 1080ti un benchmarks that many of us have here.

For the fun fact how this thing will compare with a ~5 years old product.
 
It's probably been said several times already but i am inclined to reiterate "ABOUT BLOODY TIME!! - I hope the new kid on the block rips holes in NVIDIAs mid-segment pants and jolts AMD for kissing up to these eXaggerated prices"

We've seen the horrible top-to-bottom price trickling effect thanks to NVIDIA... its about time bottom-to-top hits back!

If intel dropped the RGB and dropped the added bundled in perks and shipped out these cards in a cheap $0.20 package (even a bin-liner).... i'd bag one in a jiffy. Unfortunately for me (ultra quality, 1440p 165hz) until Intel releases RTX 3080/RX 6900 level cards i'm stuck on paying higher premiums for Next Gen 4000/RDNA3 cards although i definitely won't touch anything above $800... so wandering any news on hi-performance Intel variants any time soon?

I haven't been following updates leading up to the Arc release - this quick review and fully competitive feature-set was an eye opener for me! Can't wait to see the performance review

If these get anywhere near Intel's claims, totally planning on getting one on day 1.

If we can trust those screenshots DX11 perf doesn't look that bad.
The real deficit I think is if you compare the die size/transistor count to AMD/NVIDIA the 770 should be on 6800 level.
All that driver stuff if they continue to work as hard as they seem to be at the moment in a year they'll have a solid product.
Also all that work and optimization will just carry over in the next gen too.

You should also hope that they don't blow their trust fund up, that they built by fleecing avg consumers for over a decade! FFS they had MSDT limited to four cores for about a decade & an i7 7xxxu was a dual core ~ yes because THE NORTH REMEMBERS :D

No seriously if they want this to be a long term venture Intel needs to plan for the future & execute much better than they have for the last half a decade!

As drivers improve, I expect it will gradually edge up in performance. Hopefully it'll be like getting a two for one, a 3060 this year, 3060 Ti next year, maybe a 3070 by 2024 :laugh:

Are those graphs right - seems to be 2 copies of some of the 750 and some corresponding 770 are missing? Can't load fully - internet issues but thumbnails look wrong.
Am I wrong? I think that matters - I know you can argue with your shadow here, but TPU is still a great source of info, even if the comments are not.

Well, I don't think Polaris was really that much different than what came before. Just node shrinks, GCN driver tweaks.

From what I can tell AMD seemed to just keep 'evolving' that platform (started with the 2XX series), relying on better nodes and driver improvements for 5 years, and by 2018 the 2080 was like 70-80% faster than their 590. So yeah if you pour resources into recycling the old stuff, it'll get better - including the older versions of the new / old stuff, but not better enough.

Hopefully Intel doesn't play out that way here. A couple of years of improvements is good, use the resources elsewhere after that.
 
wtf game is called Dolmen? i thought i knew every game there was. but hey, you learn something new every day. lol

edit: I like the design of the copper vapor champer, and overall card design looks great for reference model. honestly for $329 I might be in, all depends if it works good in older games like dragon age origins and stuff.

i wouldn't mind doing a budget build with raptor lake 13400f whenever it comes out 6 p core only for $199 hopefully, and then this gpu for $329. would be a sweet rig for fairly cheap. especially if you are still only a 1080p game. which sadly I am.

if i get lucky and get rdna3 on launch day at msrp i won't do this intel build, and the way scalper bots run the world these days, most likely i won't get rdna3. so here we are. well played Intel.

I'm really looking forward to next week's review. As long as it doesn't completely suck, simply having a third player in the market is way more important than how good their first real attempt is.

One thing that concerns me is the plastic shroud surrounding the fin stack. It looks pretty but it's also the exact same mistake that XFX made with their THICC II cooler where the community simply removed the shroud to gain 12-15C improvements in thermals.

I could be wrong, but it looks to me like the critical heatsink exhaust areas are all sealed shut with plastic, and only the top half of the finstack, perpendicular to the direction of fan airflow, is even visible.

GCN 1, 2, 3, 4 were all very similar indeed, only GCN5 (Vega) made significant changes to the architecture.

The improvements between the HD7970 and the RX590 were almost entirely the result of process node improvements from 28nm > 14nm > 12nm that allowed a 60% increase in clockspeed and advances in GDDR5 that improved speeds from an initial 5.5MT/s to 8MT/s with the RX590. The only real architectural change of note was the introduction of memory compression for GCN3 and that wasn't used to improve performance, but as a cost-reduction method to match 384-bit memory bus performance with a cheaper 256-bit solution.
 
I'll admit I really like that sleek/minimalist design with tasteful RGB on top.
If I wouldn't have a 3060 Ti already I would consider a 770 as long as the drivers are more matured since I do play older games too.

Regardless, still curious to see how these perform.
