Powerlimit IS the power consumption on Intel. You can actually see it, the computerbase review has power draw. With the stock 253w limit the 13900k draws...253w (surprise, I know). And it score 43% better in CBR23 compared to the 12900k @ 240w. So I was perfectly right, dunno wth y ou are talking about

Yeah hwunboxed and techpowerup are shitting the bed with the power draws. Every other site I checked has completely different results, guru3d / computerbase / club386 / igorslab. Wtf is going on?

Nicely head to head with the AMD 7950X. Didn't crush it like many predicted. Pricing is very competitive, though. AMD needs to cut prices.

Hats off for the gaming performance. Quite a little lead over the AMD's. Let's see if they can stand AMD's upcomming mighty X3D force.
But then it all comes down to pricing. I guess Intel's will be the top pick for budget gaming if AMD doesn't bring on a cheapo 7600X3D etc. variant.

Also would be interesting to see some 13900K vs. 7950X performance/W charts with locked power targets.

And temperatures, holy moly! Folks where making fun about AMD's temps. Intel, hold my beer.

1. In 720p game tests, are there any engine caps on fps and some CPUs would hit that before running out of calculations?

2. I would (in my opinion) use the new 4090 to remove any bottleneck from GPU side in all game resolution tests since it has tremendous power exposing CPU difference better.

Fastest cpu overall, much faster in games and can be had for barely more than 7900x on a (potentially, if you so choose) much cheaper platform to boot! What's not to like, except of course, if you're a hardcore red team fanboy, then there will always be a pea under the mattress...

I have to agree; with how much AM5 costs as a whole, it was absolutely stupid to try to retain cooler compatibility and sacrifice well over 10 degrees (as DerBauer's testing clearly shows) due to the ridiculously thick IHS. Just another typical AMD blunder I guess...

That pea is at least 20C cooler, what’s Intels blunder here beyond more cores, cache and power?

Their prediction unit and cache latency are the two benefits they have.

Sure I can't ready reviews. With the exception of techpowerup, every other review has the 13900k scoring 38 to 39k in CBR23 at 253w, YES? The 12900k on the other hand scores 27.5k @ 240w, yes? What percentage is that increase?

No, guru3d measures system power. That's why the 7950x is at 340w. TPUP is measuring CPU power only. See the problem?

I'm referring to the results at reduced power limits. The i9-12900K at a power limit of 125W scores about 24000 points at 125W.

The 13900K apparently does the same (or less) according to HardwareUnboxed's power scaling graph.
Besides this, the score-power curve they show does not look correct; it is not supposed to grow roughly linearly with power.
