Intel Delays 14 nm "Skylake" Desktop CPU Launch

I was still under the impression there was going to be a desktop variant of the Broadwell CPU for LGA 1150? I thought they had just said there were not going to be any lower variants of the Broadwell chips.
Wikipedia claims Broadwell-K for 1150 but mostly it is targeted at BGA mobile platforms and LGA 2011 server platforms:

These are both Intel's big money makers where performance per watt matters most.

Skylake =/= hitler

Via Wikipedia:
  • LGA 1150 socket:
    • Broadwell-K: Quad-core desktop version with GT3e, in 65 W TDP class, expected to be released during Q2 2015.
So, pretty soon.

will this affect the launch of mobile skylake parts? Or is this desktop only?

Thank you voice of reason... I thought I had fallen into some dark corner of the internet for a moment... good to know it's still TPU.

So .... Will we have Broadwell-K - 5770K for example or no?

I would prefer cheap, mainstream 8 cores/16 threads I7s.
We are stuck on 4 cores for far too long now...

I'm interested in building a high end gaming rig next year (late 2015 - early 2016). Should I use skylake or wha

By early 2016 we should see the results of Broadwell and Skylake. By then we should know which is the better option.

I still have strong doubts that Broadwell-K exists. Intel isn't going to make one processor model for a platform that is getting replaced by Skylake soon.

It won't be replaced this year. Skylake is like a different thing right now. The motherboard already got updated for Broadwell also. :) It exists.
