Intel Makes New Processor Rating System and Logos Official

Star Rating System-

Useful to people who know anything about cpus: no

Guaranteed to convince somone who doesn't research to overspend on a cpu: yes

my CPU isn't even on the list!

more clock speed , nice

One glaring issue I have with this, is that labelling the one star processors as "reliable" implies to the average user that the other high end offerings are not reliable...

I know they have to come up with something to make the budget offerings look like a reasonable option, but I would have picked something a little different.

And what happened to the E6000 series?

outdated/discontinued

i bought an e6600 in Sep 2006

they rate mine at 2 stars but i think it might be a little better at 3.2ghz :?

Considering the Core i7 processors wallop everything else on the list, why are there so many 5-star laptop processors? As such, it is clear to me this is a marketing gimmick and as a marketing gimmick, it doesn't have to make sense. My conclusion: it is useless.

hey that was my 1000th post yay! i'm officially a first class newbie
