Sorry, my bad, it's the Formula that won't be out until May at the earliest.

Dam it ... was hoping for a 3770k + M5F ... and still not decided between 680 and 7970 ... o well i guess i have to w8 for now

5 min later :banghead: to much waiting. Btw thx for the head up :toast: (@btarunr & thelostswede)

Who wants to help me choose a mobo?
Core i7-3770K
A few HDDs
1 DVD unit
1x 680 or 7970
possibly custom CPU cooler
2x 4GB Gskill RAM
Corsair HX850W PSU
inside a HAF X case

hmmm, nice news for intel fans..
but i dont think my current processor need to be upgraded rushingly :D

need?.......if need was the determining factor wed all be running core 2 duos or something its the ITCH MAN!!!!! NOTHING SOOTHES OR STOPS THE ITCH EXCEPT THE SMELL OF FRESHLY OPENED NEW TECH. NOTHING SO CLOSE....YET SO FAR AWAY.....:banghead:

Relax, people. Diablo 3 was postponed till next year.
Did I said relax? START SCREAMING AT BLIZZARD!

hoping for AsRock to release BIOS updates for z68 boards for IB support :D
same here. they are quite silent about the bios updates. >_>

Throw in an SSD and your eye-balling pretty much the same as I am ;-)

Might go for a slightly higher PSU so the option of dual GPU is there, although I tend to avoid that path as you can come across bizarre issues and of course cost rarely justifies the gains achieved.

And actually maybe the case - that was the case I was looking at when contemplating a new build last year, but my dwindling interest in gaming at the time and I never bothered so skipped a gen completely - playing catch up now. Will have to look around again to see if any new products suit better...

April 23: 2700K value increases

I think that (retail Ivy BridgeK are bad overclockers) is a myth spread by Xtremists to sell away their used 2600K/2700K for higher prices than they deserve. We'll see.

Not sure if they're planning an Extreme version as yet, but I know Asus has more boards coming, of which at least one will have Thunderbolt, alongside Gigabyte and MSI of course.

Anandtech is doing a live video Q&A with Asus about Ivy Bridge and taking customer questions!

Looking over the questions, everyone seems to be asking will there be a Maximus V Extreme? When will it be released? And lots of questions about thunderbolt connectivity. So when the video goes live hopefully we will know more and can plan accordingly.

Nice. Keeping an eye out for the i5-3470T.

You can stop thinking mate, the IVB CPUs does not bring anything new in terms of overclocking abilities to the air-cooling and water-cooling users.
my 2600K ES sample from intel overclocks to 4.6Ghz at a fairly decent voltage (1.38V) for an ES. The 3770K does not bring anything new to the table with a maximum OC of 4.6-4.7GHZ as-well. Now, i wouldn't mind running those frequencies but the part that is most frustrating is almost no advantage performance-wise against the 2600K.

I wanna see 3770k@ 7ghz :D

What about the idle BSOD problem that a lot of sandybridge CPUs have? You know, rock solid at full load at a certain Vcore but BSODing when doing virtually nothing.

That depends a lot on the motherboard and all kinds of settings you set for your CPU.

i only overclock with all the power saving features turned ON. even with the power saving features, we never had that kind of behavior before Sandybridge. maybe it would limit the MAX overclock, but it would be unstable when stressed, not other way round.

so, i just wonder if whatever was the (direct) cause of it, was fixed (intentionally or unintentionally) with Ivy.

I had many experiences with CPUs that were rock solid under load for hours and can BSOD the system at idle before SB

installing new vga test system right now: 3770k + asus m5g.. bye bye x58 *sniff*

I know I'll miss mine too :(

Waitttttttttttttttttttttttttttwaitwaittt....

What happened to "thou shall not use PCI-Express X8 in multi-GPU configurations" ?
and m5g? I'm confused... What happend to the glory-ness of an extreme-chipset based testbed?

All you have to do now is to get your hands on all the card from amd 5xxx nvidia 4xx till present and start testing , after a month or 3 you may resume your life  j/k of course :toast:

And was hopping for the formula version .... oh well ...

if you have sandy bridge 2600k installed in your rig, then do you still have a plan to upgrade your sandy ?
have you seen how 3770k performs comparing 2600k ?
i bet now you have the answer for that :slap:

First gen i7 860 .... Any new intel chip would be an upgrade rt o me but yes this does answer my question.looks like im leaning more to 2011 now cause I do run multi gpu set ups. Still have a feeling ivy couldve been better but intel wont let 2011 become obsolete so soon
