Intel Xeon 2696 v2 vs Intel 2697 v2 CPU performance comparison

I have this cpu myself and i can confirm that mine will do 3.5 for single core and 3.1 for all core all day long with a good cooler.

the cpu doesn't work with intel S2600 MB or lenovo S30. If you want max compatibility, the 2697 is better. 2696 is however cheaper and does have a tiny multicore performance margin.
