Try Freemeter or Bitmeter II both have monitoring abilities.

They are free to use.

Personally, I like Bitmeter 2.

Does your router get hot ?, maybe try a fan blowing on it just to keep it a little cooler just to see.

The idea was as it list the hops and keeps pinging the IP there for when one fails to be able respond it would show were the delay was.
