Have you tried System Restore in Safe Mode?
What´s the complete message in the STOP string?
(Like STOP: 0x0000000A (0x0A05000D, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x804EC6D4))

There are several possible causes for this sort of error. A device driver could be misbehaving--often it's a storage related driver, either due to a mismatch or perhaps a conflicting BIOS setting. If your BIOS has a setting regarding AHCI or something like "SATA Mode", try toggling it.

Also, this can sometimes be a sign of hard disk failure due to corruption in the pagefile.

i aint vista familiar but run a low level scan disk on your boot drive.. xp does it on the next reboot when the option is set.. how vista does it i dont know..

trog

Is it a bios level overclock on your video card.? If it is remove it, flash it back to defaults. I sure hope you made a backup of your original.

If that's not the cause then somewhere you have instabilities in your southbridge. Are you able to lock PCI-e and PCI frequencies in your bios?

Also, try running one stick of ram.

I always guess ram as well... I have had that issue. Know what? It was because 1 of my sticks was bad. DO a memtest. Then you will see the truth! I know you already checked it, but check again!

I did encounter that when I had vista installed, it was my videocard drivers.. I dunno if its same for you, but try doing the memtest again as stated by other ppl

Try removing all the drivers that you can from the add/remove programs section, and remove any network/TV card/Sound card drivers from device manager if they don't show in add/remove programs. Basically, get rid of as many drivers as you can and then see it it boots (apart from the vital ones in device manager).

Sounds to me like it must be drivers. Try posting some system specs, and unplug any USB and other non-vital devices when you boot.
